Jason Robinson was a Rugby League superstar before he switched codes to play for the Sale Sharks in 2000. In making his England debut against Italy in 2001 he became only the second player ever, the first being Barrie-Jon Mather, to have played Rugby League with Great Britain before playing for England in Rugby Union. He went on the 2001 British & Irish Lions tour of Australia and scored in the first and the final Test. Robinson was part of the 2003 Rugby World Cup winning England squad and scored England's only try in the Final against Australia. Became England's 118th captain as well as being the first black player and first former Rugby League player to captain England. Played in the 2004 and 2005 6 Nations Championships before going on his second Lions tour to New Zealand in 2005. Robinson announced his international retirement in September 2005 and led his club, Sale Sharks, to their first ever Guinness Premiership title. He came out of international retirement for the 2007 6 Nations and captained the side on the summer tour of South Africa and will retire from rugby after the 2007 Rugby World Cup in France.
