Anton Oliver has represented New Zealand Schools and New Zealand Colts whilst also playing at U19 and U21 levels. He made his debut for the senior side in 1996 on the same ground and against the same opposition as his father: at Port Elizabeth against Eastern Province. Again following in his father's footsteps, he was named All Black captain in 2001, Frank Oliver, captained New Zealand in 1978. He has also been captain of the New Zealand Colts and New Zealand U19s and is a former winner of the New Zealand Age Grade Player of the Year award. Oliver is one of the very few players that has played every year of Super rugby and was the first New Zealander to play 100 Super 12 games. Made his senior provincial debut for Malborough in 1993, when current All Black teammate Isaia Toeava was just 7 years of age.
