Fourie is a strong, quick outside centre who can play any position in the backline effectively. He is considered one of South Africa’s most promising backline talents and is one of the top game breakers in the Lions squad. Fourie was an invaluable member of the victorious Springbok’s, scoring several tries in the 2007 Rugby World Cup. Fourie suffered from a few injuries in 2008 which kept him from the national team, but he played off the bench in the end of year tour, scoring two phenomenal tries.
Fourie moved to Western Province at the end of 2009 in controversial circumstances after a contractual wrangle between the Stormers and the Lions.
