Os du Randt made his Test debut for South Africa in 1994 against Argentina and was part of the 1995 Rugby World Cup winning squad. He became a key member of the South Africa team over the next few years and in a survey in 1999, Rugby World magazine rated him as the second best loosehead prop of all time. He was part of the South Africa squad that reached the semi-finals of the 1999 Rugby World Cup but in 2000 he suffered two years out of the game due to injury. In 2004, he was recalled by new national team coach Jake White and earned his first South Africa cap since 1999. Du Randt became only the seventh South African player ever to earn his 50th Test cap against England at Twickenham in 2004. He was named in the South Africa squad for the 2007 Tri Nations Series. Du Randt is one of the few remaining players at international level that progressed from the amateur era and is the only member of the 1995 World Cup Champions still playing professionally.
