Chris Latham moved from the Waratahs to the Queensland Reds for the 1998 season and made his international debut against France later that year. He has played in both the 1999 and 2003 Rugby World Cups, in Wales and Australia respectively, and has won the Australian Super 12 Player of the Year award on three separate occasions. In 2004, he became only the 21st player to earn 100 caps for the Queensland Reds and in 2006 he was the first back to be awarded the John Eales Medal. Suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in pre-season training with the Reds he missed the whole of the 2007 Super 14 season but made his comeback for Australia as a replacement in the final 2007 Tri Nations match against New Zealand. Latham is the second highest try scorer in Australian history behind David Campese and the most capped fullback, he also scored the fastest try in the history of the Super 12 (after 21 seconds) against the Brumbies.
