Who is Peter de Villiers?

Wednesday, January 09 The new Springbok coach is a rather unfamiliar figure to South African rugby fans.  The 50-year-old has never held a high profile coaching role in South Africa.  He hasn't coached one of the major unions in the Currie Cup or a Super 14 franchise.

His rise to prominence has come about with his coaching of South African age group sides where he coached both the U19 and U21 sides.

His appointment as head coach of the Spears collapsed when the Eastern Cape side was refused entry into the Super 14.  He coached the Emerging Springboks in 2007 and has most recently been involved with Stellenbosch in an advisory role.

National:
SA U19 – 1998 & 1999 (SA finished 3rd in 1999 at world championships)
SA U21 – 2004, 2005 & 2006 (3rd in 04, winners in 05 and losing finalist in 06 at world championships)
Emerging Springboks 2007 (Winner of IRB tournament in Romania)

Well one thing is for sure, if he does not perform, not even the @#%*$! that run rugby will be able to safe him from the SA public. He'll get to know what real pressure is....

But Hay Good luck to him, if he knows a little bit about rugby.... we have all the players and more to stay no 1

Kalla and scrumfan, did either of you see jake White's CV before his bok appointment? VERY similar, and probably slightly les impresive, so what is your point exactly? Although if he selects Luke Watson I will stone him myself!!

But one can't even start to compare his CV to the likes of Heyneke Meyer.

For the uninformed please read Jakes book and read for yourself where and which teams he coached. that is why Heyneke is regarded as a beter coach, because his cv is also beter than PDV. But it was not our choice, we will have to wait and see.

die een wat genoeg (edited) ga maak soadt al dai klomp ou captains somma ka (edited)of uit die land uit. wie het geworry toe os destyds gese het hou die politiek uit die rugby - loop (edited) vat somma ve hoskins en schalk burger wat nie by die dinee was nie saam. moet asb. nie die fout maak om luke watson captain te maki, hy's glad nie so goed nie - as jake en sy van is nogal white dit kon raaksien, moet jy jou nie blind hou daarvoor nie
