Barbarians

Barbarians squad for SA clash

Tuesday, November 27 Barbarians coach Eddie O'Sullivan has named a powerful outfit to face a Springbok XV when his team lineup to take on the world champions at Twickenham on Saturday.

The team contains representatives from England, New Zealand, Australia, Italy, Wales, Fiji and South Africa.

Stormers number 10 Peter Grant - who was capped for the Boks earlier this year - is likely to play opposite Andre Pretorius and alongside Wallaby Matt Giteau, while fellow South African Schalk Brits will form part of the Barbarians pack.

Jason Robinson, the former England and Lions star, will be gracing the international arena for the last time.

Rugby World Cup Wallabies Matt Giteau and Rocky Elsom have both been named in the Barbarians squad, as has former Wallaby Justin Harrison, now playing for Irish club Ulster. Harrison will pack down at lock, while 24-year-old Brumbies prop Salesi Ma’afu also has a chance to impress against the world champion Springboks.

Joining Giteau in an impressive backline are All Blacks stars Joe Rokocoko, Conrad Smith, Justin Marshall and Ma’a Nonu.

England and British & Irish Lions international forward Mark Regan, making his third appearance for the Barbarians, will captain the side, though there is some concern that Regan's club, Bristol, will bar him from participating in the fixture. Prop Andrew Sheridan could also be denied permission to play by the Sale Sharks.

South Africa will be playing under the banner of the Springbok XV because of the non-Test nature of the affair.

That definitely is a powerful looking bunch. I'm really excited to see Peter Grant at 10. Andre Pretorius will have to be on his toes as I think PG should be the pretender to Butch James' NO 10 jersey. Boks by 10

2 or 3 years ago, this would have been a truly powerful squad (back then Schalk Brits was still worth something... in his starting year)

But the squad does look pretty cool. Very Happy

If both teams play running rugby; and, if the defense is of a true test standard, then we will be in for a surefire game. In which case this will also be a real test for the Boks - forget about Wales.

GO PETER MA MAN!
Will unfortunately not be watching as the fukstiks at FoxSports are not showing the game at all! Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad this is realy pathetic, its the world champions vs the rest of the world! and it doesn't even make it on TV. Meanwhile American Football!, a sport OZ doesn't even play gets everygame shown! Mad

well, it looks like Grants a definite starter with no other 10s in the squad

Giteau and Smith in the centres would be awesome, two of the classiest centres on the international stage in my opinion

Shyte its a pretty strong team. If they get it together we might have a very hard day on the park. Again if it was our strongest team we would have murdered them!!!!
