Carlos Spencer of Northampton Saints has been cited for an alleged dangerous tackle on Gareth Cooper during last Saturday's EDF Energy Cup match against Newport Gwent Dragons.
The fly-half, who was yellow carded following the incident, has subsequently been charged with an offence contrary to 10.4 (e) after a report from the independent citing officer Alan Mansell.
Spencer has been summoned to appear before a Rugby Football Union disciplinary panel of Christopher Quinlan (Chair), Mike Rafter and Geraint Edwards (WRU) at the Bristol Filton Holiday Inn on Monday October 16 (6.30pm).
