Whoohoo, gone are the dark early months where the braaiplace feels so boring without the excitement of a big game!
Ladies and gents, welcome to rugby season 2010.
The most beautiful jersey in the competition, closely followed by the Sharks I must say.
RUGBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RUGBY!!!!!! And trophies.
For you, on the other hand, trophies would be a whole new world.
Jack Daniels won't stand by you your whole life.
Anyway, sorry Gareth. Javelin and I have been chirping each other for a while now, but Im sure he'll agree its nothing personal.
Thanks for a great site!
I'll go easy on him from now.

Yeah this site is much more decent than some others floating around.
I think it's one of the best features of this site.

If this happens, will it be the first time ever that 4 away teams have won in one week?
It's also a great place for us to have a really long thread (the whole week) to banter and chat.
Personally I think the Force, Reds and Highlanders are going to really battle along with our Lions and Cheetahs. Hope I'm wrong about the Cheetahs though.
Not a fan of the Sharks and never will be! One Freudian slip and its what you hang on to. Its the kinda stuff my wife hangs on to! I hope you do better than the NZ based teams but you'll probably choke again.
Javelin my man, good to see you again and good to be back! Time to retain the trophy. Looks like the Stormers are (and I guess always have been) our only competition in SA.
Back to topic 1 - the Sharks jersey looks poke! What were they thinking? Must admit it looked better last year! Reebok have screwed it up!!!
And don't even start bout the Mighty Stormers jersey's for the warm-ups. Us fans signed it.
On the forum we have a log prediction game: Feel free to join in! You have time to predict yours until the last game of the 2nd round.

You have not won anything yet there are some big games coming up and a long season ahead of every team. The bulls have some new combinations and are missing a few of there big names, the stormers haven’t come close to winning something in years and just because you have had a few good pre season games doesn’t put you in contention for the super 14 final. Just remember the sharks and the cheetahs have some great players who can turn it on at any time.
I think you guys are counting you chickens before they hatch and I will be the first one on this sight laughing at the stormers when they fall from the lofted pedestal they have placed themselves on just because they have bought a couple of good players.
Top 6 In no particular order...
Bulls (Need to win away, and get a semi in SA if they want to win it again)
Crusaders (They're just too good, they'll be in the top 3)
Stormers and Hurricanes (Enough talent to take over a small country, but inconsistent enough to shoot themselves in the back more than once... )
Sharks (Struggling for depth in key positions but a settled squad that should do well, they'll miss Frans Steyn a lot)
Brumbies (Best Aussie side, they'll do well with their annoying but incredibly clever rugby)
Mid table
Blues (they'll play some spectacular rugby, and some awful rugby, and will ponder what should have been at the end of the season, could be Stephen Brett's breakthrough season)
Waratahs (they'll be really boring to watch...)
Chiefs (predicting what the chiefs will do is about as useful as trying to wash your socks in the microwave with a plastic spoon and a jar of mayonnaise...)
The Force (See comment for the Chiefs)
The Bottom 4 In no particular order
The Cheetahs, (They'll upset one of the SA sides in the dying stages of the competition and cost them a home semi final, but other than that...)
The HIglanders (they will fligh valiantly, but still lose)
The Reds, (Like the Blues, they'll play some spectacular rugby, except they'll still lose)
And the Lions... (They've lost their best players, but they have a good coach, who knows...)
Predictions
CANES (have to stay loyal to the home town)
BRUMBIES (without a doubt one of the most dangerous looking teams they've ever had and IMO top 4 contenders)
BULLS (no brainer but the backline looks pretty weak this year with out Habana)
SADAS (even though the Highlanders have won the last two but with carter back it'll be a different story)
REDS (have a feeling these guys could be the surprise package this year)
STORMERS (looking very strong this year with Habana and Fourie in the mix, believe they could surpass the sharks as one of the favourites)
SHARKS (this was a hard one but the sharks will just have a little bit more and Chiefs have never been good playing away)
Over kiwi team to win the super 14
It would be even better if you could include the kickoff date/time for the different time zones that Super 14 is played in. You could either use the timezone that a logged in user selects for their profile or otherwise just put the all the times, which might be most useful. You could even put the alternative times in as title values on the local SA time for the game, so we could just mouse-over to see the time in our zone.
Keep up the good work, and go Crusaders!
And the New Zealand time zones are give or take +11 hours
I am talking under correction, but this ought to be an indication of when the games start abroad .
Looking forward to a year of great bentering and moaning from just about everyone on this site.
Couple of comments. The stormers haven't put themselves on a pedestal. The pedestal came from fans and the media (must say I agree they are looking awesome), but the team itself remains humble. Both coach and captain have repeatedly said that even though they enjoyed the pre season games, they still didn't have any log points and taht is what counts. Coetzee also said that the camp is full of confidence but not arrogance and I think that is the right attitude.
Can't believe I am actually going to miss this weekends games, planned a hiking trip a long time ago and didn't realise the Rugby started already.
