Fans urged to dress up for SA 7s

Thursday, December 03 Rugby enthusiasts are urged to “Push the Tempo” and dress up in their most outrageous outfits at the 2009 Emirates Airline SA Sevens tournament which takes place in George next weekend.

Sponsors of the George event together with SA Rugby will be giving away some fantastic prizes to spectators at Outeniqua Park that sports the best fancy dress.

“Ideally we want to benchmark ourselves against the other international tournaments on the IRB World Sevens Series circuit,” said Emirates Airline SA Sevens Marketing Manager, Sarah Williams.

“The game, the culture and the Sevens brand has attracted a new audience and it is important that we at SA Rugby, together with our sponsors look at different and new ideas to create a better experience for our spectators traveling to George to participate in the exciting Sevens festival of rugby.”

Meanwhile, rugby supporters who have not yet bought their tickets for the Emirates Airline SA Sevens extravaganza can still do so.

While the Grand Stand for the Saturday has already been sold out, there are still a limited number of tickets available.

Tickets are also available for Friday, but SA Rugby expects these to be snapped up well before the Sevens action kicks off in George next Friday and urges fans to secure their tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

“We have arranged an exciting programme of rugby and top-class entertainment for the two days and we believe spectators will definitely get value for their money,” said the Emirates Airline SA Sevens Tournament Director, Steven Roos.

“The City of George and the SWD Rugby Union recently completed the upgrading of the stadium, which means that spectators will now be able to watch all the action in greater comfort.

“The Springbok Sevens are not only the defending tournament champions, but also the IRB Sevens World Series champions and their presence next week in George has created an enormous amount of excitement already,” added Roos.

Wait till you guys see the 2011 World Cup prices. Shocked

Shocking to say the least - up to R 6685.00 for a ticket at the final. Yes you read right - almost SEVEN thousand rand.

Makes the Lions series tickets seem cheap.
