Sharks preseason training underway

Wednesday, November 25 The 2009 season is only just over and already an exciting 2010 rugby season beckons with preseason training now underway and preseason warm-up games planned for late January.

The Sharks regulars have had just over a month’s total break and have now reassembled at The Absa Stadium Durban, while the Boks will be given an extended break following the conclusion of the Springbok end of year tour to rest their weary bodies.

Next year’s challenging Vodacom Super 14 has The Sharks away on tour for five weeks against the likes of the Crusaders, Waratahs, Brumbies, Hurricanes and Highlanders, crossing the Tasman Sea four times over the course of their Australasian sojourn and they expect to get the perfect preparation under way against two equally competitive teams - the Stormers and Western Force from Perth, Australia.

The triangular “friendly” warm-up series takes place in Cape Town with The Sharks meeting the Force on 26 January and the Stormers three days later on the 29th with the Stormers and Force meeting on 23 January.

The Sharks played the Pumas and Bulls’ second-stringers in their preseason matches at the start of this year after a warm-up match in Dubai against the Cheetahs was cancelled and with the Stormers and Western Force providing ample competition in the triangular warm-up series, 2010’s preparations should be ideal for The Sharks.

Oh dear...that's some itinerary. I wonder if the Sharkies will be as competitive as they have been like the previous 2 seasons.

However, having said that what happened to them in this year's S14? They started off so well to eventually crash and burn?

Any way...go Sharkies!

Very Happy

I think the Sharks are, and have been, suffering from a lack of depth in certain positions... Blindside flank, and flyhalf as evidenced by Freddie and Juan Martin Hernandez being brought in... I think they'll do alright though, Plumtree is a top coach. Stefan Terblanche should be retained as captain.
