Cheetahs duo get Bok call-up

Sunday, November 08 Midweek captain Chiliboy Ralepelle and prop Gurthrö Steenkamp will return to South Africa after being injured during the Springboks' opening tour match against Leicester at Welford Road on Friday.

Ralepelle has an injured foot and has to see a specialist. Steenkamp injured his knee.

Tighthead Jannie du Plessis is doubtful at this stage with an injured hand.

Vodacom Free State Cheetahs front-rankers Wian du Preez (prop) and Adriaan Strauss (hooker) have been called as replacements and are set to join the squad shortly.

Can du Preez play on both sides of the scrum? Strauss to get the number 16 jersey.

old news!!!!.....lol

wpuldn't be surprised if the injuries came from danie roussouw in a ruck Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

i think Wicus Blaauw is just as good as wian du preez in the scrum, and is a good deal bigger and younger......why don't sa rugby just hire os du randt so even guys like werner kruger can work on scrummaging?

adriaan strauss is a great player and a much better captain then chilliboy so no problems there!

it would be suicide to play Maku on the bench against teams like france and ireland.....it seems he must have some talent though as western force have sent him an offer!

perhaps someone can injure du plessis and then they can send out WP Nel as well. Perhaps the scrum will at least stay still then

@junior,du Preez destroyed blaauw & co. the last time Cheetahs played wp in bloem but I do agree that Os must be pulled into the Bok setup, anyway I wonder if Steenkamps injury is real or not,now du Plessis' hand injury must get him sent home so WP Nel can be called up!

It's not Gurthro's knee that's injured. They are struggling to get his head out of his a$$ were that Italian prop put it.

just thinking.......surely our scrum wasn't mauled by the front row alone, obv the locks and back row strength account for a lot of the go forward momentum!!!!!

the cheetahs scrummaging could also be a result of the power of david de villiers and nico breedt!

this sounds rididculous but i think wicus blaauw should do an old-fshioned 1 on 1 scrummage with wian du preez to see who gets in the bok team! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

i don't think danie rossouw put much into the game on friday cos he knew he was in a politically corrupt team, however i respect the man for saving our 2007 world cup hopes!

if anything - this proves the merit of Bok trials before a tour goes out. Fact remains - this team had very little time to prepare, and no gametime against meaningful opposition; which is simply stupid when you place them againt a team like Leicester

and trials dont have to be a BOk A vs Bok B (which just becomes an old fashioned Bokkestamp); why not have this team (dirt-trackers) play a game against Griquas and another against Falcons before they left? It develops the game in those regions - and builds gees.

Injuries also happen because of poor match preparation.

Dont know why we dont send a tour of BOk B - like the NZ Maori, on tour every year somewhere else to get experience. Imagine if a dirt tracker team played Fiji and Samoa - while the BOks are in NZ/Australia; or played Rumania and Sapin while Boks played England/Wales .....

Grant- few good ideas there- although I think they should play
the Sharks WP Cheetahs etc not the weaker teams! And the "B"
team touring is a great idea Idea Idea
Now we have a real hooker and prop there so things should get better. I have never seem Maku play so I cannot comment on his abillities-maybe he is still young and that is why he is lower in the pecking order at the Bulls?????
I cant wai to see the Team against France! I hope they dont screw that up as well! Mad Mad

I see Wian du Preez signed a contract to play for Munster. Probably because he was overlooked, and now he got called up. What irony.
