Ulster and former South Africa lock Johann Muller has yet to make a final decision on whether he will retire this season.

The 34-year-old is out of contract at the end of 2013-2014 and is weighing up whether to sign an extension with the club or to retire and return to South Africa.

Muller has captained Ulster over the last few seasons and lead them to the Heineken Cup Final in 2011-2012.

Part of the Springboks 2007 World Cup winning squad, Muller has suffered injuries to his arm, hand and calf over the last couple of years that may have an impact on his decision.

"I haven't made my decision yet about next year and the years to come. That will happen in the next four or five weeks," Muller told the BBC.

Muller hopes to be passed fit for Friday's Heineken Cup match against Montpellier, with Ulster currently three points clear at the top of Pool 5.

"Away from home after the first 20 minutes, [Montpellier] really came back and probably won the last 60 minutes of the game," added Muller.

"Then at home against Leicester, they conceded a try in the 82nd minute to lose the game.

"The luck hasn't been on their side. If they had won those two games, they would be very close to being top of the pool right now."
