South Africa U20 fly-half Handrè Pollard will make his Currie Cup debut for the Bulls against the Sharks on Saturday.

The 19-year-old has been sidelined by a shoulder injury but is now fit to make his bow in the competition, replacing Tony Jantjies in the number ten jersey.

Coach Pine Pienaar is confident that the youngster will be up to the challenge of fronting up against a strong Sharks outfit playing on their home turf.

"Handrè was part of our plans all along and had it not been for a shoulder injury sustained in pre-season, he could have had a number of matches at this level under his belt already. He might be young in years, but have an old rugby head on him. We are keen to go out there and deliver," Pienaar told the Bulls' official website.

Pienaar has made three further changes to the starting XV that suffered a humiliating 62-23 hiding at the hands of the Lions last week.

Centre Francois Venter and winger Travis Ismaiel are both ruled out by injury and are replaced by Waylon Murray and Akona Ndungane respectively.

Frik Kirsten has shaken off the ankle injury which has seen him sidelined for the past two weeks and he comes straight back into the team at tighthead prop.

New recruit David Bullbring could make his first appearance for the Bulls since arriving from the Kings as he is named on the bench.

Pienaar has called on his troops to bounce back strongly from their dismal showing against the Lions.

"There is a lot to answer for this weekend," he said.

"We have disappointed a lot of people, including ourselves, with our performance last weekend against the Lions and the only way to get that out of the system is to go to Durban and get a result."
