According to reports, retired Springbok flanker Juan Smith could make a return to the game with Toulon.

Smith called time on his playing career earlier in the year after being sidelined for 18 months due to an Achilles tendon injury.

However, while it appeared the 32-year-old had played his last match, reports in the South African press suggest he may get one more shot with Toulon.

Journalist Jean Smyth on Sunday tweeted: "#JuanSmith arrives in Toulon tomorrow, likely to know by Wednesday if he passes his medical and #RCT offer him a contract."

Following his first tweet up with: "#JuanSmith will visit one of the world's foremost Achilles tendon specialists in Marseilles tomorrow. Then goes on to #Toulon itself."
