Western Province are set to be boosted by the return of Springbok hooker Tiaan Liebenberg for Saturday's clash with the Free State Cheetahs in Cape Town.

The defending champions opened their campaign with a 24-24 draw against the Blue Bulls last weekend but are keen to return to their winning ways against the Bloemfontein-based outfit.

WP coach Allister Coetzee revealed that utility back Cheslin Kolbe (knee) is the only injury concern while Liebenberg is training again after recovering from a back injury sustained during the Stormers' Super Rugby campaign.

"Cheslin is about 50-50 at this stage," Coetzee revealed.

"Tiaan has been working hard on his fitness since getting the all-clear to resume full training.

"It's always great to welcome back an experienced player and we all know the additional leadership and energy that he brings to the team."

Flanker Rynhardt Elstadt and fly-half Gary van Aswegen sat out training on Monday afternoon, but neither are in doubt for the Cheetahs clash.
