Kings fly-half Demetri Catrakilis has announced that he will be joining Western Province for the Currie Cup competition.

Catrakilis helped Province to their first Currie Cup title in more than a decade last year when he played an instrumental role in their final victory over the Sharks.

However, a move to the Kings for the Super Rugby season had already been agreed and the Stormers were forced to watch on as one of their own starred for the Kings.

There has been much speculation that the 24-year-old will turn out for the Stormers next season, but while a decision on this has not been made, the pivot will be back in Cape Town for the Currie Cup.

"So to put all speculation to rest I'm off to @WP_RUGBY for the currie cup!!! Looking fwd to it," he tweeted.

Catrakilis will be competing with Gary Van Aswegen, Kurt Coleman and Tim Swiel for the number ten jersey. The trio will get an early opportunity to impress, with Catrakilis out of action for four weeks due to a shoulder injury.
