JP Pietersen heading to Japan
Sharks and Springbok winger JP Pietersen has confirmed that he will be taking up a contract with the Panasonic Wild Knights.
It has long been rumoured that the lucrative deal, which will reportedly see Pietersen earn five times what he would have in South Africa, was on the cards, but it appeared earlier in the year that the 27-year-old may be having second thoughts.
However, the player on Tuesday revealed he would be leaving South Africa later in the week.
“My last day in SA before kicking off to Japan. Have mixed feelings today- sad & excited for my new adventure,” he wrote on Twitter.
Pietersen’s deal with the Ota City-based outfit will allow him to represent the Springboks during the November internationals but not the Rugby Championship and will also see him free to play for the Sharks in next year’s Super Rugby competition.
