Sharks fly-half Butch James and Bulls lock Wilhelm Steenkamp have both been cited following Saturday's Super Rugby clash at Loftus Versfeld.

SANZAR Judicial officer Jannie Lubbe cited James for a high tackle on Bulls full-back Jurgen Visser, which the former Springbok was shown a yellow card by referee Jason Jaftha.

Upon further review of the match footage the citing commissioner deemed in his opinion the incident had met the red card threshold for foul play
Meanwhile, Steenkamp is alleged to have headbutted James in a ruck in the 63rd minute in contravention of Law 10.4 (a) Punching or Strikin.

The citing commissioner also deemed the incident to have met the red card threshold.

All SANZAR disciplinary matters are in the first instance referred to a Duty Judicial Officer hearing to provide the option of expediting the judicial process. For a matter to be dispensed with at this hearing, the person appearing must plead guilty and accept the penalty offered by the DJO.
