Le Roux gives Boks attacking edge
Cheetahs utility back Willie le Roux has added a new dimension to the Springboks by offering them an unpredictable attacking edge.
Le Roux was the subject of a great deal of pre-match hype, but despite the added pressure of being under close public scrutiny, he did well in South Africa's 44-10 win over italy in Durban on Saturday.
In a fine debut at full-back, Le Roux gave a fine all-round display and hardly put a foot wrong.
And after the match, Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer praised the 25-year-old's performance.
"It’s always tough the first game when there’s a lot of nerves," he said.
"But I really thought they played well.
"Willie did well... and suddenly there’s a lot of pace in the backline, so I was very happy with the guys."
Le Roux was buzzing when asked to comment on his Test debut.
"I realised a dream and it was really, really exciting," he told Die Burger.
"It all just went past too quickly."
