Waratahs scraping the barrel

Without 16 players due to injuries and international selections, Michael Cheika could hand debuts to six players against the Force on Saturday.

Cheika lost 10 players to the Wallaby squad on Sunday, and with the likes of Tatafu Polota-Nau and Sitileki Timani also sidelined through injury, the Waratahs will field an inexperienced line-up against the men from Perth.

As a result of the mass of absentees, lock Ollie Atkins will make his Super Rugby debut, while Will Skelton, Lopeti Timani and Jed Holloway are set to run out for their first starts of the season.

Lock Adam Coleman, flanker AJ Gilbert, props Richard Aho and Sam Talakai, and outside back Terrence Hepetema are named among an extended replacements bench and will make their debuts should they get onto the park.

Cheika will confirm the final match-day 22 later in the week.

Waratahs: 15 Drew Mitchell, 14 Peter Betham, 13 Tom Kingston, 12 Tom Carter, 11 Cam Crawford, 10 Bernard Foley, 9 Brendan McKibbin, 8 Jed Holloway,  7 Pat McCutcheon, 6 Lopeti Timani, 5 Ollie Atkins, 4 Will Skelton, 3 Paddy Ryan, 2 John Ulugia, 1 Jeremy Tilse.
Replacements from: 16 Sam Talakai, 17 Luke Holmes, 18 Damien Fitzpatrick, 19 Richard Aho, 20 Adam Coleman, 21 AJ Gilbert, 22 Matt Lucas, 23 Grayson Hart, 24 Terrence Hepetema, 25 Ben Volavola.
