The Chiefs will be without flanker Sam Cane for their showdown against the Hurricanes in Wellington this Friday after suffering a back strain in training.

The Friday fixture is the first of five in a row for the Chiefs against other New Zealand franchises.

Dave Rennie has made one change to his front-row with Pauliasi Manu starting at loosehead.

Tanerau Latimer takes on the duties in the seven jersey with Cane ruled out with a slight back strain and Charlie Ngatai joins Bundee Aki in midfield.
