Springbok full-back Zane Kirchner has been ruled out of the Bulls' clash with the Highlanders due to a finger injury.

Kirchner underwent an operation on his finger two months ago after suffering a bad dislocation but it was hoped that he would have recovered sufficiently to take his place against the men from Otago.

However, the Bulls' team doctor, Org Strauss, has now confirmed that he will not be fit for the match.

Paul Willemse (knee - 10 weeks), Cornell Hess (knee - 6 months), Frans Venter (groin - 4 weeks) and Wiaan Liebenberg (AC joint - 4 weeks) remain long-term casualties.
