Hurricanes lose Matu'u
Hurricanes hooker Motu Matu'u will miss the Wellington-based franchise's tour to South Africa after injuring his arm in Friday's loss to the Stormers in Palmerston North.
Matu'u fractured his right forearm and is expected to be sidelined for at least six weeks.
The injury is a major setback for the 'Canes who are already without the services of first-choice hooker Dane Coles, who is out with a fractured cheek bone.
The Hurricanes have a bye next week before taking on the Bulls in Pretoria and the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein.
Ash Dixon and Reggie Goodes will take over hooking duties in the 25-man touring squad, with one more player to be added.
Hurricanes boss Mark Hammett used Southland hooker Jason Rutledge as cover earlier this year when Coles and Matu'u were doubtful with ankle and shoulder injuries respectively.
All Blacks wing Julian Savea will also travel to South Africa despite sitting out the Stormers match due to off-field issues.
Hurricanes squad: Beauden Barrett, Tim Bateman, James Broadhurst, Ash Dixon, Jason Eaton, Ben Franks, Reggie Goodes, Jack Lam, Reynold Lee-Lo, Alapati Leiua, Faifili Levave, Karl Lowe, Ben May, TJ Perenara, Tusi Pisi, Matt Proctor, Mark Reddish, Julian Savea, Brad Shields, Conrad Smith, Chris Smylie, Andre Taylor, Jeremy Thrush, Jeffery Toomaga-Allen, Victor Vito.
