Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske has revealed that centre Robert Ebersohn has turned down a lucrative offer from Top 14 club Montpellier.

Recent reports in the French press claimed that Ebersohn had signed a pre-contract for a two-year deal with an option for a third year with the 2011 Top 14 finalists.

Drotske says he persuaded the 24-year-old Sevens international to rethink his future and stay in Bloemfontein and insists he won't allow any players to leave before the end of their contracts.

"Robert said no to Montpellier," Drotske told supersport.com.

"I think it is a good decision, not only for us, but for him as well. Personally I believe he is young enough and has a lot of time ahead of him in his career, and his best rugby is still to come.

"So I think it is a good decision to stay where he is.

"The overseas clubs want the players after Super Rugby and if I say yes to one player how do I say no to the next player. The Absa Currie Cup is a very important competition to us and we need all our contracted players to be available for it."
