Damien Hill's future as Rebels coach is hanging in the balance after his side lost their fifth successive Super Rugby match at the weekend.

Hill, who's contract expires at the end of the current season, is feeling the pressure after leaving South Africa without picking up a single point.

Their 10-try defeat to the Sharks was followed by the sending home of Wallabies Kurtley Beale and Cooper Vuna for a post-match altercation. They then lost 34-16 to the Cheetahs - leaving the Rebels in 13th place on the standings with just one win to their name.

Melbourne chief executive Steve Boland said the entire Australian franchise needed to see some positive results.
"We've had some discussions with Damien," said Boland.
"The coaching window and player recruitment window can't wait until the end of the season for those sorts of decisions so we need to make a decision on our coach well before the end of the year."
