Lions without stadium sponsor

The Golden Lions Rugby Union suffered another setback, with the news that the Johannesburg-based outfit's stadium sponsors, Coca-Cola, have opted not to renew their sponsorship in 2013.

A Lions press release this week referred to the stadium by its original name, Ellis Park, and not Coca-Cola Park as it has been known in recent years.

The news was soon on Twitter with reports confirming Coca-Cola had elected not to renew their five-year, R12m-a-year deal which ended in December last year.

This follows the recent exodus of their leading players for the 2013 Super Rugby season after the South African Rugby Union confirmed they would be replaced by the Southern Kings in this year's tournament.
