Favourites for the Super Rugby title?
With the new Super Rugby season kicking off next month we've checked up on who the bookmakers are backing for the title.
Arguably the toughest competition in world Rugby Union, you have to be brave to make a call on who will win the Super Rugby title six months before the final. But as they say, 'he who dares, wins!' If you get your bets in early, the payday should he handsome.
The Australian franchises start their campaign on 15 and 16 February, a week before the South African and Kiwi teams.
In South Africa, local derbies start the proceedings with the Bulls hosting the Stormers at Loftus Versfeld on Friday February 22 before the Sharks head to Bloemfontein to face the Cheetahs on Saturday February 23. New boys the Kings start their campaign against the Western Force at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium the same day.
But who are the favourites to get the job done at the business end of the season?
William Hill online bookmakers are backing the Crusaders to win their eighth title, making them the 3/1 favourites.
Defending champions the Chiefs have the next best odds at 11/2.
Last year's losing finalists the Sharks and South African conference winners the Stormers are the leading South African candidates for the title - both are at 7/1.
The Highlanders (8/1), Brumbies (12/1) and the Reds (12/1) have all been given a better chance of winning the tournament than the Bulls!
The three-time champions from Pretoria look like a decent bet at 14/1, the same odds given to the Blues and Hurricanes.
The Cheetahs are rank outsiders at 66/1 while the Kings have been given the worst odds at 500/1.
