The Hurricanes have named the five players in their wider training group for the 2013 Super Rugby season.

In 2013 the wider training group will stay in camp with the side for the whole season unlike previous years, and each week can be picked to play on merit, as opposed to several injuries required before a player was allowed to be selected.

The five players in the Hurricanes 2013 wider training group with their province in brackets are:

Richard Buckman (Hawke's Bay), Mike Coman (Hawke's Bay), Ash Dixon (Hawke's Bay), Callum Gibbins (Manawatu), Ope Peleseuma (Taranaki).

With three representatives from Hawke's Bay, and one each from Manawatu and Taranaki, this group shows the regional talent within the Hurricanes catchment pushing their way forward for full squad selections. Three of those players, Dixon, Gibbins and Peleseuma are new to the Hurricanes environment.
