Meyer backs Lambie at 10

Bok coach Heyneke Meyer is set to give Pat Lambie a chance to prove his mettle in the number 10 jersey during South Africa's UK tour.

The men in green and gold face upcoming Tests against Ireland, Scotland and England during November.

And with recently promoted fly-half Johan Goosen left out of the squad with injury, Meyer has favoured upcoming star Lambie to have a go.

However, Meyer still didn't say outright if the 22-year-old Lambie would wear the number 10 jersey against Ireland next Saturday, or if he'll field current second-choice Elton Jantjies or the recalled Morne Steyn in the opening match.

"Pat will definitely be a contender there and I think he can be a great fly-half," said Meyer, who has pigeon-holed the Sharks playmaker as a full-back in his first season at the helm of the Boks.

"He is tried and tested at Super Rugby level and I want to use this opportunity to see what Pat can do at this level.

"For me it is very important at Test level that your fly-half be a good tactical kicker," Meyer continued.

"I wasn't impressed with Pat's tactical kicking before and I asked him to work on that aspect. He showed me in the Currie Cup that he has done the necessary work and I have been very impressed.

"But, having said that, after this year I'm going to stick with two number 10s going forward to the 2015 World Cup."

HM you have not had much success with #10's of late so I would suggest that you stick with the losers you have selected to fill the #10 spot, namely Jantjies and Morne.

Don't put Lambie behind your old pack of players and sell him short.

I would put MORNEYS name before Jantjies to be correct. Jantjies hasnt had the time to fail yet if you ask me. He just hasnt made an impression. Failiar i will give to HM and MORNEY in this possiotion. This love affair between HM and MORNEY has cost the springboks dealy and the backline many tries. Its just gay to say the least. And then HM is going to put MORNEY back on when he thinks his in form to boot the ball away and someone else is going to score a try by pulling off a miracle run like Habana or JP and just because we win a game everyone is going to praise Morney and HM then we going to get smashed and everyone is going to go ahhhhhhhhh. Tied tested failed. Lucky we arent playing wales they would stop our ten year winning streak. Rugby fun and games. Go bokke yaaaaaaaaaaaa
