All Blacks will destroy Boks - Spencer
Oct 02,2012
Ex-New Zealand flyhalf Carlos Spencer believes the Springboks will be no match for the All Blacks in Soweto on Saturday.
Spencer said the Springboks’ emphatic 31-8 win over the Wallabies in Pretoria at the weekend needed to be put into perspective and that the unbeaten All Blacks would pose a much greater challenge.
“The Springboks obviously needed a good win but the Aussie weren't great," Spencer told Fairfax NZ News. "I think the All Blacks will destroy them this week.
“It will be a big confidence booster for the Springboks. There was a lot of pressure on them over here in terms of their last couple of efforts.
"They played some good rugby at times and didn't kick away as much ball as they had previously.
"That's definitely a step in the right direction for them.
“But they are going to come up against a better defence this week. If they can hold the ball for long periods and not kick it away they'll be in with a chance, but the All Blacks will be too good for them.”
Spencer, along with fellow assistant coach Wayne Taylor, was in August sacked by the Lions after the Johannesburg-based Super Rugby franchise suspended head coach John Mitchell following allegations of a player revolt, and has subsequently turned his back on coaching.
During his time at the Lions, Spencer worked closely with flyhalf Elton Jantjies, who made his Springbok debut from the bench last weekend, and is understood to have been popular with the players.
He is now contemplating a career in sports promotion. "They cut Mitch and I was next. It's just one of those things. People get fired everyday. It's time to move on and try something different,” Spencer said.

Quade senior... talking it up. SA should put the kiwis away at home - considering that they should have won in NZ.
Oct 02, 2012 at 23:19:49
Games aren't won on "should haves" or "if only's". I would think Spencer is more qualified to give his OPINION, seeing as he played in both countries.
Oct 02, 2012 at 23:46:42
I think "should haves" or "if only's" is the ONLY way the BOKS supporters view games these days! No team can beat the BOKS on “good play” and/or “merit” without the conspiracy factor and let’s face it there have been many of those over the past few years. The best thing for the BOKS is to realise that the AB’s are and always have been the #1 team in International Rugby and I can’t see the BOKS winning it this weekend. In the 40 matches since the start of the professional era, the All Blacks have won 28 tests to the 12 of the Springboks. Who is the better team???

First of all come checkin with us after this weekend game when halve a Springbok under 21 team beats your mighty Blacks. At the end of the day facts are facts and we should have won more against the All Blacks, but considering that we come from a nation where the provinces pay the players' salaries and only care about their own well being and not that of the Boks we can't really expect more. Here everybody plays a different style thats why every new Springbok coach must "start from scratch" to get his ideas accross. In NZL every team plays the same and the All Blacks are the centre point so each new coach comes in and just keeps on going, to be honest in a system like that you can just about put anybody in the coaches' seat! Be very glad about this because if it wasn't for the outside rubbish that always holds our rugby back your tiny island would struggle to win a game every ten years with the amount of talent in this country!
But just wait this side of ours is very very young, but extremely talented, you will not touch us in a year or two!
Oct 03, 2012 at 01:26:44
Hahaha! I've been hearing the same old story from 8 years ago when the BOK players were only 13 years old then and still can't deliver? facts are facts we should have won more agains the Blacks!!!! There you go again with the "should have" statement bla bla bla! .....move on man + I also understand that you play a different style of Rugby, maybe just maybe try playing a winning style of Rugby then and move on from the BULLS style of rubbish? Question, what has money got to do with self pride and playing for your country? Excuses if you ask me! Every country has talented players not just SA. With NZ being such a small country they honestly do know how to kick the BOKS butt consistently don't you think? Not bad for only ONE style of rugby that they play there.
Oct 03, 2012 at 10:48:58
"Bulls style of rubbish" - The same rubbish that made them the most successful super 14 team ever winning 3 of the 5 times it was played?? The same rubbish that whipped the Crusaders in 3 semi finals, well to my knowledge that is winning rugby so don't completely understand what you mean, but on the other hand it just shows what you know of the game.
It's common knowledge that New Zealand rugby is basically bankrupt, so thank us for the fact that about 70% of income earned comes from the pockets of South Africans because of your alliance with us in Super Rugby and The Rugby Championship. Shame without that poor old Richie and the Boys would have really had to play in the Black jersey for free, but seeing as they have "so much pride" for their jersey I'm sure they would have gladly stayed at their parents' houses and still play!
We look forward to welcome your Blacks here in SA on Saturday, your honeymoon after the worst world cup ever will soon be over and hopefully your team led by the most overrated cheat in the history of the game will get what they deserve!

Mate you only got to were you have in latter years because of handouts! The UK refs against us since we rose to fame, the OZ refs against, the Kiwi ref one i know BIG FAVOUR Bryce Lawrence. You see what made the 2007 WC easy for us was England and France beating NZ and AUS, BUT a ref throwing the rule book away so you can win the WC is just a disgrace! If i was you i wouldnt be proud! Plus on the other end of all of that is our politics! So in all fairness considering the fact that we were only ommitted into the world cup many years after all of you but beat you to winning it twice without any handouts i do believe we are better than you! And will win a third before you! We are far greater champions than you! You are just the team that the IRB favours! And you not far off on the IRB rating so see you soon Charity Champions!

Lol,,,,, Carlos u tosser,,, u know your big mouth has just set u up for a moerse backfire.. And u jinxed ya team..
Oct 03, 2012 at 01:31:36
That will NEVER happen! The BOKS don't have what it takes. They need a new coach and captain first! The AB's are far too strong and talented. The BOKS will find this Saturday a painfull 80 minutes
Oct 03, 2012 at 08:25:01
Mate we thrashed you three in a row on your own ground you should have thanked DIV for firrering too soon and scaring the shit out your country like a Earthqauke!
Oct 03, 2012 at 06:03:33
Well if ex rugby players who have played in both countries are more qualified to give their opinions as per ponyboy, then I suppose Marc Ellis was spot on with his 20+ AB's annilation of the Boks in Dunedin. That came from his own mouth whilst waiting to board at Auckland airport to head to Dunedin.
Spencer is just sour grapes because the Lions dont want him anymore. Talk it up boys! Remember, the game still has to be played!
Oct 03, 2012 at 23:59:54
I said Spencer was qualified to comment not that he was right. I expect the AB's to win but it will be close. The way most SA supporters are writing off the AB's based on your win against OZ and a loss in Dunedin that according to every Bok supporter was a win except for (fill in the blank), seems more a sign of insecurity about their team rather than confidence. The AB's if anything are consistent, i.e they consistently win where as the Boks consistently don't win . But win or lose the AB's will still be RWC champs, Rugby Championship champs, the #1 rated team in the World and the most recognised team in World Rugby which all adds up to the best team on the planet. a win win situation really.
Oct 03, 2012 at 07:20:02
Come on boks, smash the AB's and then all 22 show Carlos a big "toffey" to his face
Oct 03, 2012 at 08:43:48
Dear Boks fans,
Please do not take this ONE persons comment as gospel. That's his opinion. I believe we will win, yes, from our form and just how good the ABs have been over the last several years. I just believe we will but not in a smug and blunt manner like Carlos Spencer is going on about. Don't dare shuffle all of NZs thoughts into the mind of this washed up, super show off.
Thanks,
All of New Zealand

Best result all round will be if the boks win.... Bokkies are on the right track but could use a little confidance and the AB's need somthing to work on and someone to beat, I think if we keep winning everything we'll just set ourselves up for a big fall (prob in a wrc year no doubt).
Only prob for the boks is the abs are a bit like the wallaby side of old, you could smash them up front but somehow still find yourself on the wrong side of the score board. Anyways if the bokkies win it should make the next couple of years all the more interesting!
Let us pray for a tight one!

All in Black
Oct 03, 2012 at 18:52:53
Carry on All in black, Allblacknblue, freetochat & pukefreekiwi its gonna be a great game on Saturday and you better hope you dont lose ............
Oct 03, 2012 at 20:05:08
Meh, i'm indifferent. I love the all blacks but love rugby in general even more. Would rather see a tight game even if the boks win rather than another ab's try fest.
Oct 03, 2012 at 19:13:00
The all blacks would be nothing without the help they get from the south pacific islanders. WTF cant believe everyone turns a blindf eye to foreign nationals not playing for their own countries over there.. And all you proper kiwi boys dont give me that crap that they are schooled in NZ so that means they are Kiwi. i live in the U.K and christ do the poms get shit for the foreign national players, Field NZ born players only and you would be rated along side Japan, namibia etc.... NZ all blacks are a joke!!!!!!!
Oct 03, 2012 at 20:11:23
All born and breed in NZ, it's there grandparents in most cases that were fresh off the boat. But by all means take em all back lol, so many unemployed islanders in NZ, Hence i choose not to participate in that economy anymore and work in a tax free crountry.
Oct 05, 2012 at 07:27:55
Hahaha, that's such a retarded comment it's hardly worth replying too and you are a disgrace to follow Bok fans and grasping at straws, stick to blaming the ref and your coaches. But........I'll bite. Most of these "Pacific Island people" were born and raised here from birth. Heck, we have more Samoans here than Samoa has! Our best players are kiwis: Carter, McCaw, Dagg, Conrad Smith, Hose Gear, Cory Jane, Aaron Smith, Kieran Read, Whitelock, Weepu, Thompson, heck, I could go on and on. The rest were all born here so, again, you have no idea and as always, leave it to a South African to bring race into LMAO, thought that shit was in the past????
As for the rugby, they come here and are bought up with OUR style and learn from US. Think about it, if your "argument" (or lack there of one) had ANY merit, then how come Samoa haven't won a RWC? Or Fiji? Or Tonga???? How come they play so piss poor, because they suck and play Island style rugby. They come here, to NZ and get the worlds best training via New Zealands highest standards. They get worked in our local comps and provincial championships. New Zealand's rugby heritage and upbringing is what makes them, not their skin colour, place of birth or ethnicity. End. Of. Story.
Oct 03, 2012 at 20:44:26
New Zealand would be horrified if the Islands ever became strong and independent in their own right. That's not the plan at all. If a professional system could be put in place so that the best of their talent didn't have to look abroad it would be a massive blow to New Zealand rugby's development.
So the list rolls on. Sitiveni Sivivatu, Sione Lauaki, Rodney So'oialo, Joe Rokocoko, Joeli Vidiri, Jonah Lomu, John Schuster, Frank Bunce, Michael Jones, Bryan Williams, Walter Little, Stephen Bachop and Andrew Blowers. Jerry Collins and Mils Muliaina are both Samoan by birth. The list is endless."
Oct 04, 2012 at 07:37:36
Your'e an idiot. Do some more research. For starters Blowers bunce, little, bachop were all born in NZ. Walter lttle is a Maori. sivivatu, rococoko and vidiri are fijian born and Lomu was born in tonga. Guess they are all the same to you though, eh japie.
Oct 04, 2012 at 09:20:23
Soft spot hey you tribal twat. You Kiwis dont know your elbows from your arse. not south african either you toss pot. Face facts here ludwig tosser, New Zealand rugby would never survive without the poaching off players. Boo Hoo you wanker
Oct 04, 2012 at 12:27:04
The Boks don't poach or have other nationals in their team? The Beast is from where? That negates your entire "NZ poaching don't know what your talking about" arguement. Research your backyard before you go commenting on issues you have no idea or facts to back it up, otherwise you come across as a crap spouting zealot.
Oct 04, 2012 at 11:39:40
Hey cok2007 . Have a look at the All black run on side this weekend. There is the grand total of one player you would refer to as being of polynesian descent, Nonu, born in wellington incidentally. The rest of the players are european and maori. But it doesnt who we field the result is usually the same.. we win. Nothing to cry about there wanker.
Oct 04, 2012 at 16:18:08
Yawn yawn you prat. @polyboy what a camp name china!! one player the beast and yes there was a whole lot of controversy over it. Lugdick boo hoo you camp tribal twat. You wankers are nothing but poachers. How can you claim to be the best COUNTRY at rugby when they are not even yours. Gay boys!!!!!
Oct 04, 2012 at 22:12:38
Glad you like my name @ Bok2007, but typical ignoramus reply, so just how many" poached" players are too many, why don't you set the numbers give it to the IRB so all international countries know what constitutes how many different coloured players they can have. Oh wait the IRB doesn't take advice from idiots in strait jackets. We don't have to claim that we are the best country at rugby the fact that we are the #1 rated nation by the IRB, are RWC champs, Rugby Championship holders and as a bonus are also 7's champions speaks for it self. This'll piss you off even more, cause regardless of what happens on Saturday the AB's will still be the champions and #1 team in the world. Hows' that lovey.
Oct 04, 2012 at 20:49:40
Bok2007 your an idiot feel sorry for SA supporters who have your voice represent them. Shut up unless you have something remotely interesting to say.
Oct 05, 2012 at 07:29:54
For you girlie Bok fans crying about "poaching" that's so retarded and you are a disgrace to follow Bok fans and grasping at straws, stick to blaming the ref and your coaches.
95%+ of these "Pacific Island people" were born and raised here from birth. Heck, we have more Samoans here than Samoa has! @papamofo mate you are the idiot. who gives a monkeys. Born there or schooled there, same difo chap. NZ would not be the rugby nation you are without them. This is obviously a soft spot for you Kiwi bloggers. i willdrop it now but here in the northern hemisphere people get pissed off with it all. Thats why england think its alright to do the same. Now boys keep your hair on as the poaching will never stop. By the way i am winding you boys up as i know it pulls your strings.
Oct 05, 2012 at 09:44:16
Hey 07 you sound paranoid and pretty pathetic for a SA thought they were tough and pretty intellectual bunch.....maybe I was wrong. I won't deny it about having islanders in the team...so what about it yeah sure they help good for us I say, but majority are pakeha or (white) and Maori but I have no problem with it why do you????
Oct 05, 2012 at 10:20:24
Boys, easy does it, woahhh... you're all getting it wrong and typically we're off instigating a full scale war over what?? The rivalry between the boks and the kiwis is what makes our games all that more special, it's what sets our games apart from any other rivalry in world rugby and in all honesty, it's for the better. BUT moaning like a bunch of poofters, seriously, enough man! This weekend is ALL about the 80 minutes on the field and i for one am looking forward to a great physical fast paced game, no matter who wins (well of course i'm going BOKKE all the way) Let Carlos spout his mouth off, who cares... it's his opinion and it he's wrong then it'll just prove that perhaps his god given right to act as pundit, because of his playing history, should be revoked and then it's in your face boytjie!!
COME ON BOKKE, game on and good luck to all!!
Oct 05, 2012 at 10:38:11
Aghhh shark fin at last a real SA supporter. Carlos is a Wally sure an ex AB but short lived and certainly not a legend by today's standard. NZ are very wary of going deep into enemy territory and are by the most part smart enough to keep there mouth shut and do the talking on the field. This will be close encounter. However if the AB shutdown the Bok enforcers and allow the backs to cut up the field anything could happen...that's a BIG if, shutting down BOK forwards is no easy task and will require complete commitment.
Oct 05, 2012 at 11:38:03
It's gonna be epic... we put them under huge pressure back in NZ and i can't see us doing it any differently up front tomorrow either ;-)
Oct 05, 2012 at 11:56:35
No doubt that is the toughest challenge for All Blacks is taking them on up front, theres some real monsters in there pack, boks will have to hammer the AB for 80 min to keep them down. Great test for both sides.

Oct 02, 2012 at 21:01:32
Yeah, we'll see - keep talking it up sour grapes grease ball..
