Sharks Push For Steyn Availability
Jul 12,2012
The Sharks have requested that SARU allow clearance for Frans Steyn to play in the Super Rugby play-offs should they qualify.
Steyn is ineligible for the play-offs having only recently returned to Durban from France. SANZAR rules stipulate that only players registered before April 1 are allowed to play in the knockout phase of the competition, thus ruling out late recruits such as Steyn and Canadian international Jebb Sinclair.
However, SANZAR rules do make provision for extreme circumstances, like in the event that injuries prevent a franchise from fielding other players.
With Paul Jordaan and Marius Joubert injured, the Sharks have chanced their arm by issuing a request for Steyn to be available.
It’s improbable that SANZAR will let up, however, considering the availability of both Tim Whitehead and Meyer Bosman.

Windpomp will you never forget the very minor Britz incident!! Get over it windpomp.Perhaps rather just think of how the bulle are ruining so many promising SA players by buying up everything with two legs and then being unable to give them game time!
What a bunch of vultures!

Not going to happen - and it shouldn't, would set a bad precedent.

I agree. The Stormers got away with Britz last year, and SANZAR has decided, not again. why do they even try this?
