A request to Ed
May 16, 2012, 14:27:22

Ed

I am unsure how the other posters feel, I have a request however and you can probably rate the validity of it on how much reaction we will get here.

Apart from us having a cricket section, could we not add a General section or maybe just change the Cricket to General. Just an idea, use it don't use it.

Guys if you supprt this, or not please make it clear below or suggest something else instead.

Thanks

Denny

There used to be a General Topics section, no-one used it and it was decided to start a cricket forum instead. Actually it was my idea. You're the first to ask to have it put back on again after it's been taken down. Put it back on again and it will end with a similar result.

Ahh. the reason i asked is way back when I used to be here we had a really nice general section where we talked alot of crap related to everything. They probably kept it then, and then changed it when most of you guys came in and I saw the Forum was alive again :)

So lets leave it open and see what happens. Mostly Is a good place to avtually get to know everyone better.

Hi ruckers

Thanks for the comments...

As Denny mentioned, we used to have it but we had no less than 5 requests to have it simplified into its current format.

What we are currently looking at doing, is finding a smarter way to display the various categories namely rugby, cricket and general banter so that it is easy to navigate around.

But please, do keel your feedback and comments coming.

We appreciate it.

Thanks again.

Yours in rugga

Ed

I have a question, Ed.

It's a little embarassing, but how do you navigate between each forum? I go to the "ruckers forum" and that's it. There are no sub forums like General stuff, or Super 15, etc. to navigate to. Is there a way to access each forum, or is it just one ruckers forum?

If I'm in a thread I can access the sub forums at the top of the thread, but that's it.

Hi Ruckers

@canrugby: mate, we initially had 5 sub forums on the forum homepage.

But due to constant requests from posters, we were asked to simplify the layout.

Personally,  I prefer the previous version.

We are working on a couple other things in the background... so watch this space!

@barca boy: We had a big oopsie earlier. We [removed] every post ever made in an attempt to clear out the nursery school comments being made.

We managed to recover 93% of it. We are still trying to pull through the cricket posts.

Aplogies for that!

Thanks for the comments guys.

Cheers

Ed

Thanks!

I'm part of another forum here in Canada and it has the sub forums placed on the left of the page. I believe I would have liked the  previous version as well. But oh well. If the masses want it like this, it's all good.

Here's what the Forum looks like. It is very clean. Also, there's a Code of conduct. Basically debate the topic, and not the poster. Works well.

Thanks for all the hard work. :)

@Canrugby -  Ed is right, we used to have sub forums all that stuff, but the older guys like Paarlbok and them weren't to happy when the whole structure changed right after the website was redone, this was around las year sometime. so all of us left together and chatted somewhere else.

This used to be a very nice forum, al of us knew whose kids where in which school, and got along real good, then the whole change came about. Ed i presume just made it simple a bit late. They wanted one click to a thread, which makes navigation easier on a slow connection, this makes perfect sense from that perspective.

This will now off course be the choice of the majority here now.

I think the cricket will ge going once the tour to England commences.

My proposal would be Rugby, Cricket and General. One thing though if someone posts a non rugby item on the rugby website etc leave it be.  No need to move posts.

@Ek, and Ed.

I think with what all going on around here lately, and how it will rear it's ugly head again from time to time, an off topic, or general forum would be nice. If people want to talk about other issues that their having, or even if you just have a non rugby related topic that isn't to do with all the fighting, then I think it could work. The MODS would just move threads that have nothing to do with rugby, or cricket into off topic. Then threads wouldn't need to be [removed] entirely and the people who take part could have pissing matches on the internet all day long.

The forums could be

Rugby

Cricket

Off topic

Other Sports?? Football (soccer) maybe?

There we go. So give the people who want pissing contests, a place to have them. Good idea, then they don't disrupt the real talk.

Can that is idealistic. Practically speaking posts can have rugby and then some other stuff. Folk get annoyed when posts are moved about and questions ofimpartialit yarise etc etc. Practically the majority of cricket posts will end up in the cricket section. If a few end up elsewhere so what?

How about a urinal board then Ek? I nominate the sapster to mod that!  Hahahahahahahahahaha

Brilliant Suggetion Beeno!, I however would not want the Urinal board to have a moderator from inside the masses. THe point of it would be for all the pissing contests and the one's that want one can go and do it there without the fear that they are disrupting honest argument.

Actually the only trouble is that all this involves judgement. A Mod moves one thread to the urinal but not another. The mod then catches flack for being biased and may in facrt be biased . It  is a problem. But pehaps extreme cases could be moved.
