Another bonus point erroneously awarded by yarpy ref...
March 19, 2014, 06:56:06

Anyone keeping a tally on all these dodgy bonus points? Shameless these yarpy refs...Bean Brain, bRYCY KNOWS A DODGY REF WHEN HE SEES ONE MATE...

No skin off my nose as the SA franchises need all the help they can get if they are to compete in the end with the Mighty Chiefs..

Just to recap though - Round one saw a bonus point erroneously gifted to the Sharkies with Cobus Reinach's no try..

Now referees boss Lyndon Bray has admitted again match officials got it wrong in both of the Blues' recent defeats in South Africa.

Bray also said the try awarded to Bulls front rower Marcel van der Merwe, which earned his team a bonus point in the 38-22 victory in Pretoria, should not have been scored as it was a clear double movement.

In what is a unique initiative, Bray today posted his explanations of several recent contentious rulings on the Sanzar website.

Among the clips provided, and his comments, is an explanation as to why the try to van Wyk, scored after Charles Piutau knocked the ball from midfielder Deon van Rensburg's grasp, should not have been awarded.

In his ruling, Bray said: "Lions #13 [van Rensburg] is carrying the ball and about to attempt to score a try. Blues #11 [Piutau] effects a tackle and Lions #13 loses possession as a result.

While the Blues player does jolt the ball out of his possession, he is not trying to deliberately `rip the ball' out of the player's possession. The onus is on the ball carrier to maintain possession while being tackled. Therefore, this should have been ruled as a knock on and subsequently, no try.'

Bean Brain yr refs need a lesson from the Kiwi

 Brycy

Every referee has made mistakes in his life - but nobody can equal the mistakes by New Zealand referees - by far the worst bunch in history of the game.   Some NZ referees have been crooked - Paddy O'Brien and Bryce Lawrence being two of those.  Some have just been incompetent.   So make your choice in which category the NZ refs  falls.:angel::angel:

I have never been away. In any case, I see that you are still bull[removed]ting. And you still have the tendency to attack the messenger, rather than man up and agree that you have been caught out bull[removed]ting, once again.

Brycy, Japie refs have and always will have a dodgy element running through them.
They were extremely dodgy pre-isolation which gave a false impression of Bok abilities and the only reason their record was passable then.
Thank God for neutral refs now.....the Boks suddenly found they were not able to win all their tests at home! Strange that, but Saffa supporters try to explain that away with rubbish talk of central contracting and quota systems. Yes, I'm talking to you Hasbeeno!! Bryce Lawrence is a saint compared to some Saffa officials.

Moola if a list of the top 10 referees were to be created, would any be from New Zealand?

And how many at any given time are from South Africa.

No one can rationally debate that SA does not have better refs than New Zealand, and why would this change before or after isolation

try to van wyk was rubbish, have no idea how berry could have found that ok.

try to tom marshall was also rubbish, IMO that was a clear knock on before he scooped it up to score.

take joubert out of the equation and saffa refs are no better or worse then the kiwi refs, its not corrupt issue, its a competency issue.

but SA being a proud rugby nation they are and always getting pwned by NZ rugby, are always going to sc[removed]b to the usual baby wawa boohoos, cos thats what helps them sleep at night.

i always wonder if NZ were as bad as the SA at rugby on all levels, would the bulk of kiwi rugby fans be just as pathetic as the bulk of the saffa rugby fans???
sadly we will never know, cos NZ rugby dosent look like waning. at least not in the foreseeable future, 8-)

In anycase its time we adopted kiwi methods re refing. Why should we be  squeaky clean when they rob us blind time and again. Makes no sense. Nothing has helped so repay in kind?

Agreed, our refs have been kak this year which brings them down almost as much below par as your lot. There is always exceptions though.

Hasbeeno, Kiwi and the rest of the World's refs (barring SA's) have not changed in 100 plus years of rugby.
What's changed since 1992 is the ability of SA refs to be in charge of Bok games at home; hence the great Bok decline over the last 22 years. These stats are irrefutable, records speak for themselves and do not lie!
The Boks' overall test winning % was inferior to the ABs' prior to isolation and now there is a yawning gap which is getting wider every year. Face FACTS Hasbeeno!!

Kiwis are far too busy ensuring they have the best players in the world to bother wasting time on officials. Maybe if SA'ns were less invested in having the worlds best referees they might be able to compete with the ABs. Lol! You Okes can have the "best refs". At least you will have something to console yourselves.

It is amazing that with all the technology available in the game now that we still get bad calls.

Perhaps it is time to have a person available to review these calls by the TMO prior to awarding tries or penalties that determine the outcome of close contests.

Something needs to be done and soon.

Funny how the Kiwi's were the first ref bleaters and now seems to claim the higher ground when there is complaints regarding bias refs?

"Perhaps it is time to have a person available to review these calls by the TMO prior to awarding tries or penalties that determine the outcome of close contests."

Oh I see, a TMO reviewer? Then you can get someone to police the TMO reviewer . . . and then of course you'll need a supervisor to keep an eye on the policeman who is reviewing the TMO . . . and a watchdog who makes sure that the supervisor who is keeping an eye on the TMO reviewer doesn't slip up . . . and then . . .

Please man! None of this is necessary if crybabies like you just accept that even the the excellent refs that we do have do make mistakes on occasion. They're human but they're the most competent and best qualified humans to do the job. If you have to refer every decision to a TMO who in turn is "reviewed" by someone else again and so on then we're going to end up watching nothing but replay after replay of every single tiny incident. I'd much rather watch a game of good old fashioned rugby thank you very much.

All jokes aside, perhaps you should be looking for a new sport to watch, Arthur John?

I've long said there should be one TMO for all games. We have the technology to do it easily. Why is it necessary to have the bloke at the location?  At least there would be consistency.

Rooinek I was wondering when you were going to be in a fit state to read and respond....welcome back. Just want to inform that it is Thursday.

Thank you for your recommendation but once again I refuse to accept any advice from you.

I do not state that every incident must be reviewed by the TMO and another but, take the issue with the Lions obvious knock on that resulted in the win.

Also the issue with M v d Merwe (Bulls)...that 5 pointer should never ever have been awarded.

I am sure you will differ because you would rather win than play fair.....in those genes hey!!!!!

Cheers, and remember 95% water to each 5% of the dop you are swallowing.

Here we go, Sasuke being hypocritical.

"Typical saffa blaming ref blah blah blah"

Look at the pot calling the kettle black.

Sasuke when are you going to stop with the internet trolling, one can barely have a decent debate with you without you mentioning something 'trollish', it's pathetic.

Most of your posts is you jerking yourself off over NZ rugby. You're so egotistical it really put's one off conversing with you. It's alright to have the occasional needle and a bit of banter, but you're overbearing.

Oh, and Brycy. 'Yarpy', really? The use of that word is laughable at the least.

...Brother Bean Brain not like you to be on the backfoot...first yr cricketers get hammered, then the Stormers get their butts kicked twice and now yr refs are also being found out... having a bit of a bad run there mate...maybe yr Sevens team can restore abit of SA pride in Tokyo on the weekend and cheer you up...
