Rugby positions played by posters....a survey
January 18, 2014, 18:15:51

It strikes me that we would have a better sense of perspective if we knew what positions posters played....so name one, this shouldn't be exposing any identities unless Barlee/supersupporter nominates bouncer.

Flyhalf was my berth, but I'll play where the team needs me. I'll update the team here;

Rooi, my mate Wayne, who was my best man was a lock who used to kick for poles in our side ahead of Hennie le Roux. He was left footed and took his boot off when he kicked.......I kid you not.

He played cricket for Border with Ntini and Boucher and ended up coaching them. He made 100's against the touring West Indies (Walsh and Ambrose) and Pakistan.......he cut Shoaib Akhtar for a 6.

He was one of those that was [removed] hot at any sport......cricket, rugby, tennis, golf and squad

Cloudy, unfortunately we will not be able to accommodate you in or around the squad. We must base our theory on your avatar and in doing so, you would qualify as an extremely beautiful women. The issue with that is that if we chose to include [removed] at 12, we might find ourselves with 14 men on the park as [removed] has been known to miss rugby games due to making love to a beautiful women ;-)

You would naturally feel like puking and want to turn [removed] rather than have him touch you but he does look like a slimy grease ball who would force himself on a lady.

Tighthead ,when I switched from League to Rugger I thought "at last ,I get to play in a different position ! " ,coach took one look at me and said " Ahhh ,my new tighthead prop is here ! "
And I was Cap for an Aussie Army team for a couple of games ,as my RSM said 'all you bloody Kiwis know this stupid game so your it ,lose and you wont be seeing any leave for a long ,long time ! "
Brycy everybody loves smashing the oppo flyhalf ,especially props ! I used to get an itch to down our own sea-gulling backs along with the oppoastions some times as well but all props get that ....Cloudy nice pic ,is that miss NSW ?

Good to see CHICKEN back to his lying ways.......he has always told us he is a mighty wing........now all of a sudden he is a centre........lying twat.

Moz stick this useless lying twat in the bin.......the bloke is a girl and a complete liability. We dont need a chicken [removed] in the side........he will talk a good game, tell us how hard he is and how he will take everyone out........but one of those that retracts into a hole when confronted with reality.

Hence the name CHICKEN

I switched myself to full back and put Sun-Tzu at pivot. It was a relief to pick up a tighthead Wardad.....although I had Cloudy in mind if all else failed. Dave/BL you will have noticed I have not messed with your partnership, I can't wait to see a centre pair joined at the hip and the shoulder. My main concern is where we put the great OOM!

I started a half back at 5 years old and ended up at full back when I was 35. Played every back position between those two ages. So take your choice Moz, lol

I will play any position required on the team as long as I can turn back the clock and be 20 years old when I join the team,  I also would prefer to play in a black jersey. 8-)

[removed]. I played all my age group rugby at 10. Then played 3 years 1st XV in grade 11, matric then post matric year. I finished school at 17 so I was eligible for a post matric year where myself and 3 other guys studied a sport science course and just played sport through the school. My first year of 1st team I played 15, second year 11,14 or 15. Mostly wing though and my post matrix year I started every game at 13. In NZL, I have played mostly 15 but 2 starts on the wing.

Before coming to NZL I played 10 for collegians in durbs. I just thought I would play centre as with u there, I felt we looked really thin in that position. If u were all we have, we are [removed]ed!

......and while everyone is sharing their claim to fame, I've never played rugby except in the back yard growing up with my bros but in college I got into the 1st eleven cricket team (they were desperate) and played centre in netball for a number of years until an achilles injury put paid to that (none of that probably counts lol), then I coached the under 4's in rugby for a couple years which is much of a muchness haha so now with my new avatar I may just watch you guys from the security of the stands :D

Just win to tell the truth I am most put out. My good friend brycy was made captain!!! Why Moz overlooked me for the position is one of my life's great disappointments. Given my razor sharp [removed]ytical ability and reknowned rugby a[removed]en I was the obvious choice though I say it myself. ou brycy MAY have other qualities but leadeship is not one.
Having played center wing and flank I also am the ideal utility player although I was a dazzling 12. Place kicker also of reknown so step aside rooitwit points on the board is what the team needs.
Cloudy I do have a hammy twinge so please book me in soonest.:D

Also please fire Dr Moz as the selector! I would also nominate windpomp as our number one fan.

RE: Rugby positions played by posters....a survey

I played many positions when I was a junior, probably one of the first utility players. My preferred position was to play in the back row, 8 to be exact, got shifted to lock because of my height, but then the rest of the boys caught up so I went back to play at open side flank. But this was back in the days when if you were big you were a forward. I skipped playing rugby at high school and started playing club rugby again for Lansdowne road in Ireland. Where I played centre for a couple of seasons.

My last club postion was flyhalf, but that was for a much smaller club, more like a sunday pub club.

If I had to pick myself based on my abilities then I would say 8. Got that hands of a centre, enough pace to keep up with backs and the strength to mix up with the big boys.

Beeno you have my full sympathies, your dogged determination in getting rid of the moles should be proof enough that you have the qualities of being an awesome captain and you (like our Richie) will always be first to receive attention from the physio:D and [removed] Sonny Bill warmed the bench for many a month so hang in there lol I'm sure you're as mean a player as he is.  I am so liking this team by the minute :)

I am flattered to being placed at 10, but it was never my strong suit. Granted I could kick, but I never had a natural feel for the position. 12 was my strength, and even though my playing days are over, I am certain I can oust [removed] out with relative ease! If not for skill alone, then for athleticism and strength! Moz, with your keen eye for detail and balanced calm you surely are the only candidate for 10.

Can't say I agree about Moffie's eye for detail or "balanced calm" (there's a laugh!) but please note that the decrepit old coffin-dodger was born before the second world war so he's probably about 80 in the shade.

Sounds like with all the chest beating that is going on, a trial match needs to be held and we can then sort out those that talk a good game from those that actually know what they are doing.

Beeno, nice to see you back on here!

Well, on your role on the team... what can I say... (must be positive)!!!! but so tempting. The mental image I have is homer simpson drawling & saying "must have bear". But let's say that I am sure you will get the role you deserve Beeno & we must rely on the wisdom of Moz in these matters. You are in good hands:ermm:

Well we have Beeno challenging JW for his wing berth, and challenging Rooinek as kicker. However, his well known proclivity to go walk about, gives the edge to the NZ flier for the moment.

I'm afraid we are still not turning up any top loosehead props....an abaundance of centres....and loose forwards. There are also quite a few posters who remain a mystery.

"our 1st XV will hammer you guys"

Dork, if the Kamp SS posters were allowed to count each mole as a player, I'm sure you guys could put together an entire rugby league of about 10 teams with complete benches, let alone a starting XV.

Unfortunately if you're not allowed to count moles, the Kamp SS rugby team will be more like a starting VI than a starting XV.

I'll come off the bench for Flash or Brycy... I think I should start ahead of Brycy though. I'm still playing Flank, and doing a pretty decent job at it! Season starts back up in a month!!

Oimatey at Lock? How tall are you, Matey? I don't vision you as a lock.

Can - 6'4". Playing weight around 250, so more Flip Flop / Alberts than Bekker :). Working hard at an Etzebeth build - HAHA

Played lock all through school, but then moved to inside center when I started playing rugby (club) again a few years ago.

Center positions were already taken so figured I can play lock for this honorable side !

We would play by 1990s rules so stomping is fair game ESPECIALLY if lying on the ball at the back of the ruck....

No Worries Mozart, surely their must be somebody on this site that with a little positive motivation will put up their hands for the elusive loose head.

I can recall many great SA looseheads, number 1 in my book is Os, followed by Coenie and not to forget Ollie 'cheddar melt special' Le Roux. Most capped bench player of all time.

CHICKEN, is there a reason you have a photo of me as your avatar......is there something you want to tell the board?

I know you are a little obsessed with me, but dont you think a photo of me is a little over the top?

Look my all means keep it there, if it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy, but I just felt it would be becoming of you to tell us all why you feel the need to keep me so close.

I trust you dont let you boyfriend see this site, for we would hate is to cause some kind of domestic in the CHICKEN love nest. Do I remind you of your man in any way......does he also look good in a white t-shirt?

If I paint pictures for you, will that make things easier........we can now see why you inherited the name CHICKEN, you just can't man up to anything?

I'll keep it simple, why do you keep a photo of me?

Are you going through a rough patch with the boyfriend?

I'm not quite sure why you fancy me, I would have thought young boys would have been more up your alley, if you know what I mean.

But hey, who am I to get in the way of your obsession with me.......as I said very cute.

Now for once, surprise us all and man up and answer the question CHICKEN.......you answer the question and I'll allow you to stick around for a little longer........its only a matter of time!!!!

I see true to form you are so [removed]ing thick you dont even know who the long haired guy is........man talk about lift not going to the top floor.

'Not as easy in the eye'.......what the [removed] is that thick [removed]? .........it's 'not as easy ON the eye'........birdbrain!!

How's the boyfriend Dumb CHICKEN?

And you need to have that in the eye checked.

You couldn't even school a CHICKEN, you are far too thick

Evidenced by 'easy in the eye' or those other pathetic takes on Jantjies and Mnisi.......I'm a little surprised you have not thrown them into the equation lately? Not to mention the fact that you assert I use profanity - only an idiot would assert that when he himself swears all the time.......or let me guess, you don't swear on this board huh? How [removed]ing thick are you?

You are so [removed]ing thick, but having not mentioned these two players lately, maybe there is a cell or two in that thick skull of yours that is open to schooling.

Give your boyfriend my regards......be sure to show him that photo of me, you keep so close

Funny thing is, he is too stupid to realise what a [removed] he looks, but thats the attraction in having this clown post on this board. He knows stuff all about rugby but does provide some unhealthy comic relief........long live the CHICKEN.

CHICKEN.......I know you struggle to comprehend things first time round......so for your benefit, I'll repeat this.......I never splashed anything on a website........my correspondence with those answers was via e-mail.........not that I have an issue with the fact that my answers were published on that board........I have nothing to hide........but to say that I splashed it all over a board is a complete lie

Just like your lie about the bloggers that have met me in person.......why not ask them yourself what they thought of me in person, you low life?

I'll remind you who they are......Mozart, Rooinek, Becs and Mike............now for once CHICKEN man up and ask them what they thought of me in person......go on........time to expose you for the stupid s[removed] that you are.

Go CHICKEN go.......show us some balls

Ah yeah and if you using my photo as an avatar bothers me that much, I insist you keep it there for the rest of time......it will not only prove that it means stuff all to me, but will also prove what a creepy paedo you are........so I insist it stays CHICKEN

Just ask the question......and when you get the answers you will find that once again you will expose yourself for the liar you are.

"Rooinek hates me."

Sniff . . . poor Small[removed]! It's all so unfair, boohoohoo!

You're wrong, little chap, I don't hate you. I think you're hilarious. The idea of some snivelling little stick insect trying to come across all hardcore makes me laugh every time. The fact that you're too stupid to take note of the Editor's warnings disappoints me because this board would be poorer without you. You provide some great comic relief . . . even if you don't realize it.

As an example, your pathetic blubbering and bleating after the Ed quite rightly removed your attention-seeking and childish little efforts where you were trying so desperately hard to be some kind of tough guy was side-splitting.

I hope you stick around and continue this hilarious routine of yours, Small[removed] . . . but do note that if the Ed asks you nicely not to splash personal details on the board, you should either listen to him or at the very least not burst into tears when he makes good on his threats.

Okay, little chap? Run along now . . . and try to be a good boy when you're talking to adults.

You so thick Rooinek and way too old for this..Just sit back and enjoy the show..Dont get the blood pressure up old fella..Where in my post did it say I care that you hate me or not? Its just a fact and I love the fact you talk to me like you do because it shows I get to you..You should be older and wiser than to let a "little stick insect' get to you dont you think?? Hows the wife??

[removed]..Please buddy..Start getting original now..You cant just say what I have said to you, back to me and think you are on the ball..Ed [removed] my posts after you ran crying to him because you know that was the final word..The contents of those posts hit home...

You and I both know what those poster think of you..We have all seen it posted on this very blog..Rooinek is just an old [removed] that is bleak with life as his has passed him by and he has achieved nothing..I think he is still driving some small little "school leavers" car... This problem is here to stay! Did she also tell you to not answer your phone if you are a [removed]??

[removed], can you not see how stupid you are. You call me chicken because I couldn't get hold of you on a number you never gave me. Just so you know, that would make you the "chicken" and the number you gave me did ring so I reckon it was your number you posted in a stupid fit of anger but were too [removed] to answer when it rang. You are a [removed] [removed]. This is confirmed by the "butter wouldn't melt in your mouth" approach when you meet bloggers in person and your contrasting tough guy approach to the same people over the net.

There is no bigger chicken than you Avidday Earlesay!!! You are just to dumb to realise this. You even managed to get a fellow thick piece of [removed] that hates life in Rooinek to have a go at you. That is scraping the barrel.

No CHICKEN, I call you CHICKEN because you are not man enough to front up and you are a habitual liar and when confronted to counter your lies, you run scared and that's a FACT CHICKEN[removed]

Now piss off and do us all a favour, go slit your wrists or something to that effect.......oh [removed], I almost forgot, you would be too CHICKEN to do that

Thought you were bored with me?? Why am I still making you respond?

Liar?? About what??

I may slit my wrists one day..When life gets really bad. Like when I look in the mirror and see a greasy looking [removed] tard and my thoughts are clouded with only women and rugby and I make the mistake of blurting it all over a message board.

I would have to be a mid 40's wash up, living in the sticks with nothing to my name except the internet and a keyboard.

Excitement for me will have to be living my life through my son who is never gona make it in the game and telling people how stupid they are because they dont understand my delusional take on sports.

Then [removed]..Well then I will stare down the barrell of a 38 special!

How about as recent as your blatant lie that posters that had met me in person concluded I was a c....????

This was a blatant lie you ignorant twat, now wake up. As is your assertion that you know anything about me........another lie.

Much like me selecting Mnisi and Jantjies in my Bok side, another lie........do you get the picture, you lie all the time to try make a point and are too stupid to realise that its so easy to see through you.

As I said, do us all a favour and go slit your wrists, you are just too stupid to compete........and I am not the only one who keeps telling you this.

Stick me at loosehead Moz........I played one game there for a laugh......it was an old boys match.......our loosehead cried foul and I volunteered.......it was hell, our hooker kept kneeing me in the nose trying for a strike against the head.

You do realize [removed] that once you are inducted into the dark arts known only to the front row you can never go back ! No more sea-gulling ,glory hogging , 'look at me .look at me ! " behaviour as exhibited by the backs! Do you have a face you can use to make the Gorilla biscuits in the Animal Crackers ? ,a centre of gravity akin to a black hole ? The demeanor and mien of Ghengis Khans love child ? all this and more is a prerequisite unlike the 'can run fast with a ball " crowd !
Looks like being able to read ,write and boot up a computer isnt necessary for the front row tho' [ cant believe I'm the only prop on here ! ]

I am sure with with Wardad, Rooinek & [removed] as a starting front row there will be no shortage of choice words :ermm:

Sasuke San was a starting loose forward in the Ab.com team if memory serves me well. With Rosemarie & Cloudy as the starting props on that team he had problems detaching from the scrum though, lol

Lol, actually I was playing on the wing - not that anyone could tell.

Our two lady posters (Cloudy & Rosemarie) were playing in pink hot pants in an effort to distract the opposition players. Problem was it ended up with a 28 man, two women "scrum". That was fantasy rugby at its best :D

"in the days of our conflict"

What a conflict that was - fierce, unrelenting, at times humorous but encompassed an entire off-season on the board.

Would love to know how that was ever resolved?

Can you not see how you have just answered your own question. The question that you wanted me to ask.

In the days of our conflict you write. Ha ha yeah Saff. There was some real harsh exchanges between yourself and moz and the old unhappy gimp that is rooinek. It was then when the true feelings came out you jacketless pirate! I would not say some of those words to my worst enemies.

Anyway, glad you cleared that up for yourself. You were only ever kidding yourself though.

OK all you dreamers here is the truth.

You guys are all washed up, to old and don't have have the skills required (and most never did have) to play for any rugby team other than the "Moses Dreamers" with all games played on the center field in Heaven.

I know the truth hurts but you have to be honest and eventually submit to father time.

I will handle the whistle for the game as long as the transformation rules are in place and nobody is selected on merit.

White shorts and black tops will be the required players attire and no boots.....to accomodate our NZ players.

Meet you guys at the gates.

That is if we get to the gates prior to Zuma. If he gets there first there will be no gates.

Good player selection Moz.

What did you think of the Superbowl game? A rout that had very little going for IMO.

JW as a contest it was pretty dull, and I probably only watched about 50% of the game. I have to say though, the Seattle team speed thing was really a weapon....Denver had zero time offensively. Incredible hype for something that was maybe 5% as compelling as the Pom/Frog contest.

JW - you're spot on with the Advertisement Bowl moniker. What a bore sitting through those. Worst thing about football.

As a game, the Super Bowl was probably the poorest of any game played all season long. Had you been able to see any of the preceding playoff games leading to the Super Bowl they were generally close, intense affairs. The athleticism of these guys is truly remarkable. I really enjoy watching it.

Having said that, as soon as the Super Bowl was over I watched the Scotland / Ireland game and it had way more entertainment value. I really enjoy the Irish commentary, just makes the game sound more elegant and "gladiatorial". Also think Aviva stadium is always beautiful and the Irish crowd the most intelligent and engaged of any in the world. They exhibit the whole range of support - polite clapping, roaring, singing, silence on place kicks - always impeccably timed. Really want to go to a match there.

In stark contrast to the whistling lunatics of Stade de France.

I have never watched a match in Paris. But Twickenham can be pretty awful. I watched the semi there between Oz and the Boks in 99. The crowd was solidly behind Australia, having been "Jannie de Beered" out of the RWC in quarters. Jannie was abused throughout the game and when he made his brilliant kick to send the match into extra  time......kicked into the teeth of rain and wind...there was hardly any applause.

There is a nastiness about the responses at Twickenham, which reflects the smirking of the Pom players. Yesterday those smirks were wiped off their faces in the 75th minute.
