Quade Cooper......

once touted by resident "experts" to be the next best thing is currently a shattered player. Blessed with great hands, a good turn swerve and step, bunny jumps and 'Roo hops, combined with more tricks than a combo of Houdini and David Copperfield, one can only feel sorry for him. Like a Rabbitt staring into the lights of an oncoming car, kness shaking, lips quivering and a jaw as slack as toothpaste why wouldn't anyone pity this once enigmatic player who had the Oz rugby fraternity feeding from his hands.

So where did it all sour for him?

I'd like to point to his off the ball stuff with McCaw, coupled with some bad off the field behaviour. A zero defence didn't help either and of course a non performing Wallaby side who couldn't buy a win against average sides. It all came crashing down on him at RWC 2011 when a tolerant NZ media cut loose on him and Kiwi rugby fans finished him off with allround boos whenever he touched the ball. Matters only got worse when he twisted his knee and had to go home. The fact is that by then the Quaadupe had lost all confidence, a distinct disadvantage for somene who heavily relies on confidence.

If I was McKenzie I'd allow him leave of abscence until the Wallaby side regains it's mojo and perhaps away from the expectation of winning Quade Cooper might gather himself and reappear with confidence restored after having played at S15 level.

Denny

He will have a chance to get back his mojo in Super 15 - but there is another problem in the Wallaby side - with as many negatives, if not more - and that is Genia.  He also lost his mojo big time after being talked about last year as the great scrummie in world rugby.   His recent performances were very disappointing and he needs recovery time in Super 15 next year as well.

Have to agree, Mike. Actually I forgot to mention that Genia's form had gone south at the rate of knots which may have impacted on the Quaadupe but I go back to the quarterfinal against Oz at the WC where they had to remove him from the first line of defence and where his impact on attack was of zero note.

Denny, your explanation of the Demise of Cooper sounds right to me . I would only add the weak pack doesn't help & this combined with Genia's loss of mojo all contribute.

IMO , he will get better if they fix those problems & as this new back line learns to play as a team .

Cooper also has to stop playing around with trick plays inside the oz 20 - May work in S15 but plain dumb @ test level against good teams.

Denny: I started the predictions on Superbru & this could also help recruiting posters for this forum. Sign up & see how it goes - it is worth a try.

Cooper had a good game, set up the only try Oz scored, great flat pass that put his attackers into space
