Justin Marshall said the Cheetahs will beat the Brumbies
July 18, 2013, 08:34:57
Last night on the Re-Union programme Justin Marshall was on the panel when they discussed last weeks games. When asked whom he favours to win in the play-offs this coming weekend -

* he tipped the Crusaders to win with ease;

* said that he he thinks that the Cheetahs will beat the Brumbies; and

* that the Cheetahs loose forwards will outplay the Brumbies loosies..

Marshall has always been a great admirer of Labuchagne and he said at one stage he is the nearest player to McCaw he has seen for a long time.

This is something Mozart would dislike intensely. He first of all would not support the Cheetahs in anything and he despises Labuschagne. To merely think that the loosie combination of Labuschagne, Brussow and Van der Walt would outplay he Brumbies loosies of George Smith, Kimlin and Mowen would be unthinkable on the part of Mozart. After all two of the above was in the Wallaby team that played against the Lions and the third was a Wallabies squad member in the same series.

I tend to think Marshall knows more about rugby than the prejudiced Mozart does - so I tend to agree with Marshall on this issue

now that marshall has come out and said those things, im a 100% convinced that the brumbies will win.

i also dont agree about the comparisons of lappies and McCaw, IMO lappies playes more like kerean read.
the last player ive seen close to McCaw was brusoow, but hes not a weet bix kid so was never going to match up physically to almighty king of rugby.

Marshall is a rarity as a nzlander. He may get it wrong but at least he is reasonablky objective. hence saSUE doesnt really like Justin. That objectivity gets under saSUE's skin.

Brussouw is about 103 kg and wee mcaaw 105 kg. Both are smallish flankers and aside from illegal tactics mcaaw is not up to much. Play legally and he would be an unknown. mcaaaw now is in any case well past it. hopefully the abs will continue to pick mcaaaw who needs all the cash he can get as that Britsh Madam is high class and expensive - wonder if that dalliance is continuing? Any news there saSUE?

I believe the Cheethas are in with a shout. We shall see. Hope the ref does a decent job. I recall how the Cheetahs were robbed blind in one match downunder.

I love it how kiwis talk up the cruds like they're invincible - they only beat the Tahs this year to extremely biased reffing from kiwi Jackasson in Christchurch..... UNLESS the refs cheat again (Yarpy ref Jaco) then will be close game - Ive got no doubt.

Re Bumbies - they may struggle but they may also romp it in - whatever reason though the Cheetahs have played extremely well v Aussie teams this season so trend may continue..................

LMFAO, :oD
another beauty for brother beenos highlight reel.

"Marshall is a rarity as a nzlander. He may get it wrong but at least he is reasonablky objective."

only beeno1 aka storminged would love someone who by even his account gets it wrong, LMFAO, :oD

McCaw well past it??? he had no problem outworking the combined efforts of louw, alberts and vermeulen in the dunedin test and this happened less then a year ago, dont u remeber, it was the same series  we whitewashed u in the IRC/4nats, :o)

brussow - (2008 - 2013)
20 test caps
0 IRB player of the year nominations
0 player of the year awards

McCaw - (2008-2013)
57 test caps
3 IRB player of the year nominations
2 player of the year awards

smae time frame yet one has clearly been physically able to rise to the demands of test rugby and the other has fizzled into rugbys equivlent of i think i remeber him, wasnt he the guy who almost killed when williams pushed his face in the RWC??? LMAO, :oP

but at least when McCaw is playing we can both be happy, :o)

Hope cruds get spanked! Its a pity one has to have so much concern the ref wont do his job but there have been so many debacles one comes to realise that often the bent/incompetent ref decides a game.

As per usual the delusional think its all up to Brussouw, a good player but not a great one.

EX Keo

The Cheetahs are good enough to beat the Brumbies in Canberra.

They travel to Australia with more than just hope.

The Cheetahs have not lost to an Australian team this season and should not have lost to the Brumbies in Canberra a year ago.

The Brumbies beat the Cheetahs through a last minute penalty in a Super Rugby league fixture in 2012 and the two teams did not meet in this year’s competition.

Australian fields, though, have been to the Cheetahs liking in 2013 and the side were brave in beating the Waratahs by a point and defending for most of the match against the Force in Perth before sealing a dramatic late win.

In Bloemfontein defence was decisive in rolling the Reds and attack was the pillar of their romp against the Rebels.

The Brumbies are the best of the Australian sides and Brumbies and former Springbok coach Jake White will have to be at his tactical best to beat off the challenge of the Brumbies.

The breakdown will be a final of its own with Brumbies veteran George Smith up against Springbok Heinrich Brussow.

Brussow will have to be influential and the Cheetahs forwards will have to boss the collisions to beat the Brumbies. Both sides have outstanding outside backs but whoever rules the breakdown will rule the match.(And brussouw will as usual have to poach numerous balls and slow down opposition ball all the time as he usually does - Bwahahhahahaha get real please this is all so over the top)

It is why the Cheetahs will have belief that playing in Canberra on Sunday is not mission impossible.

The team this year has travelled with more success than at any stage of franchise’s history.

Beating the Brumbies will get the Cheetahs a first ever semi-final and significantly a first ever clean sweep against all five Australian franchises in one season.

The Reds, having already made history in beating the four New Zealand franchises they played in the league stage, can also do a Cheetahs and add an unprecedented fifth to their season in beating the Crusaders in Christchurch on Saturday. (Go Reds!!!)

The Reds, who have not played the Crusaders this season, have won three of their four matches against the Crusaders during Ewen McKenzie’s tenure. Among those wins was the 2011 Super Rugby final. (Crusties are now offically Reds bunnies)

McCaw is nothing but a filthy cheat! Even cheaing he was always Smiths bitch. I saw that son of a bitch sitting on his asshole on the wrong side of the ruck last year. stupid fucking ref was too biased to call it so that big bok prop smack that pussy clean in the chops. It made my day some no shit guy just taking out the trash, i like that. mccaw doesnt make my list of top 20 flankers of the last 50 years. hes slow and useless but that silver fern makes all the difference i guess so nobody can say shit about him. its not even though hes modest either hes an arrogant piece of shit.

Beeno not all phases are equal. you target certain phases where the oppo are more vulnerable and you pressure their ball. you guys just dont get the value of a fetcher its fucking stupid to say they arent valuable because they always have effect on winning games! Brussow is like pocock they are top two fetchers in the world mate. brussow is pretty strong and fast he handles the breakdown on the retreat and thats always pretty useful. I dont get what Louw is supposed to be great at, hes slow like mccaw but with no skills. hes never outplayed australia or new zealand or even a NH team except italy. his very average and he will get humiliated again this year. if you guys want to play better rugby the you must have loosies with bakll skills and interlink your forwards. its very important okay? most everyone in australia and new zealand knows hthat. your big slow loosies with no ball skills can only bash it up but after four phases (probably less then that) you guys lose momentum. its pretty easy to pick those big runners off. boy you guys are missing schalk and brussow. they gave so much more options but also had physicality. where is schalk anyways?

Looks like your allowing your emotional state to get the better of you.

It's clouded your vision and so you obviously cannot see the brilliance of McCaw. Reckon him putting you to the sword so many times has brought about this bitterness.

Having said that ... the horseshit you sprouting about Flo seems to stem from the same visual issue your currently experiencing.

Flo at 6, Alberts at 7 and a Botha or Engelbrecht at 8 should be miore than enough to clean both you and the AB up.

Look forward to the RC.

So Ihi, take it you don't care much for the legend that is McCaw. Regardless still the best No 7 in the game, though not as great as the best ever...Michael Jones.

Ihi Louw is far better than Brussouw and so is Deon Fourie. Hence brussouw realising this and being off to Japan. Given some injuries he may get a few more games for the Boks.

Your take on mcaaaw is abourt right- good player but no great.  and terrible role model. He and the abs generally get away with murder and hence Bob Dywers alarming stats of abs 47 penalties one yellow, Oz 7 penalties to oine yellow and Boks 6 penalties to one yellow. Troubel is both Oz and Sa reckon nz to be their friend and show bias towards them. Time to wake up methinks and many have.

I still recall a couple of number sevens that were hard to beat. Teuns Stoffberg and how about Andre Venter. Twice the players mcaaw or wee Jones were. Would have them for breakfast. Men against boys stuff really.

Jake starts mind games - Ex Sport 24

Sydney - Brumbies coach Jake White said on Thursday it is only a perception that the Cheetahs play running rugby, labelling them as one of Super Rugby's most conservative sides.

The Cheetahs are lining up for their first-ever finals berth against the Brumbies in Canberra on Sunday - and while many pundits believe they are the most entertaining South African team, former Springboks and Rugby World Cup winning coach White said he was not convinced.

"There's this perception, it's funny how it works, that certain teams score a lot of tries and they run from everywhere," White said.

"It's not the case at all. I think they are probably one of the most conservative teams in the competition.

"They don't play like Australian teams, they actually play more like South African teams."

The Cheetahs have scored 38 tries this year, less than many Australian or New Zealand sides other than the Force (26) and the Reds (31).

"They (Cheetahs) play exactly like the Reds. They kick as much as the Reds as well," he said.

"They kick a lot, they let you play in your own half, and if you make a mistake then they pounce."

The Cheetahs are chasing their first victory in five trips to Canberra against the Brumbies. The Bloemfontein-based team narrowly lost 24-23 on their last match in the national capital.

The loser of Sunday's playoff is finished for the season, while the winner goes on to meet either holders Chiefs or the Bulls away in next week's semi-finals.

Go Cheetahs put the Brumbies and then the wee Chiefies out of their misery!

I notice my friend brycy is quiet these days. Probably fearing a season ending collapse of his team?

I presume you know that 7 is an open side flanker down under ... right???  ... and that Venter was a blindside flank ... right?

If your gonna do a comparison, try to compare apples with apples ... ok??? ... it helps to get your point across ... instead of confirming your a giant sized twat ... !!

jip beeno at it again........brussouw wil show you that he is twice the player louw or fourie is....

in terms of justin's views he is always down the middle but if the cheetahs go out there and try to put the brumbies under pressure and attack them and score early and make them chase the game then it might be a bridge to far for the brumbies
