Force play in Game 1, Brumbies have a bye and there is no Sunday game so we shouldn't have to deal with funny stuff regarding team announcements this week

Roinek

Thanks for the info.   I have already made my first change for the week on Foxsport.  Afeaki is back in.

And in Test Rugby  -all three Chiefs I had in the team last week is playin - so no problem there either.   I am still looking out for another Flyhalf though. I had Lambie - but he is not scoring top points - so I am changing him this week. Thinking of Foley of the Waratahs though.

I have checkd my normal sources and there were no futher teams announced.   Will probably surface later today - So I will keep on the lookout.

As expected - but Jantjies seems to be falling out of favour - and he is on the bench this week.

The defensive sieve is in place and Folau is my captain this week.

stormers have been updated, :o)

im thinking about folau as captain too, but the stormers are a whole different kettle of fish then the knigs, best defnesive side easy and im sure coetzee will have the players on full folau alert too, ontop of the waratahs travel factor, hmmmm quite a conundrum.

No real surprises here - but still a weak team.   If the Reds struggle against this lot - they really have a problem.

Sasue

How come the SA teams are always announced early - normally on Wednesdays - while the other teams delay announcements - soemtimes only making them on Fridays?  It is not nice to struggle with fantasy selections on that basis.

Thus far - I only had to make 1 change due to team announcements on the Foxpsor side - and is likely to have a second enforced change in bringing in Marcell Coetzee to replace George Smith - the latter is a bad investment in Foxsport - having an off this weekend and then might be called up early by Deans.  The latter is the reason why I shied away from Higginsbottom in this case.  If I do not do not make that change - I will have to have only two loosies this weekend - so there goes my second transfer.

On the Test Rugby side I am still enjoying last week and am very happy.  Of the 12 players I had - six are this week in the starting line-up and I think Anscombe at flyhalf is going to be very good.   The remaining outstanding players are from the Rebels (2) and Waratahs (1).  Aside from that I am changing to Foleey - that is if he is starting.

Sasue - Just one question.  Who would you replace Consrad Smith with on Foxsport?  I am wavering between Ellison and Aki - who do you think would be the better one from a longer term perspective?

Hope the outstanding teams are announced soon.

Sasue - just for your info about nicknames in Afrikaans.  "Ligtoring"  means light house and "Boom" is tree or in other parlance mariyuana/hemp.  Hope it is not the latter LOL

*update*

cheetahs and sharks have been updated, :o)

i agree mikey, some very inconsiderate coaches out there, its my belief they have fantasy teams of their own and are looking to try and stack it in their favout, lolz, :oP

i was going to recruit anscombe at flyhalf on my fox team, but im having second thoughts now thats hes named at 10 instead of 15.
i also consdiered cooper, but the sharks team looks pretty good IMO. o just think the reds on the back of that upset draw with the force will turn it up this weekend.
prob still go with anscombe though, especially as he will go back to 15 after this week.

as for conrad, aki and ellison are good choices without hindsight.
regarding ellison im thinking though the kings will step up there defence against the highlanders on the back of the waratahs smashing, this could also be a potential woodenspoon match right here with both teams at the bottom.
while aki is solid, but i dont rate that 2nd string chiefs backline that rennie named. the lack of synergy amongst the backs and the fact that the force had a real impressive game last week makes it a bit of a head scratcher.
aki might seem the better bet though, playing at home as opposed to the highlanders travelling, but i rate ellison very highly, he was one of the form players for the landers in 2012 and was great last week, he also made the most of every opportunity in the All Blacks though, so id probably go with ellison.
it sucks that rangers not in the centers, as he would be my first pick easy.

I have gone through all the franchise websites and the area newspapers, as well as appropriate other sites and there are at present only the Chiefs team selection in evidence - and no team announcements for any other New Zealand or Australian teams.    It is already barely 30 hours before the Reds game and no team announcement as yet.

Real tenderers for the Arsehole of the week competition.  The piss pot crown is waiting.

Looks like HIghlanders are going to push the deadline with their team announcement:

Otago flanker Hugh Blake has flown to South Africa to boost the Highlanders' loose forward stocks ahead of their Super Rugby match against the Southern Kings in Port Elizabeth.

With openside backup Tim Boys battling niggles and impressive blindside TJ Ioane in doubt for the match on Sunday, coach Jamie Joseph has moved to provide cover.

Blake will make his Super Rugby debut if required.

Former All Black  No 8 Mose Tuiali'i is available again after missing the last two games with injury, including last week's narrow win over the Sharks in Dunedin, the first success of the season for the last-placed Highlanders.

Ioane, who his impressed in recent weeks with his powerful runs, was forced off against the Sharks with a calf niggle and remains in doubt.

Joseph will need to make at least one change from last week, with utility back Phil Burleigh not selected in the 25-man tour squad due to a shoulder knock.

The Highlanders will name their team tomorrow for the match which pits the two bottom-placed teams against each other.

oi-matey

Thanks for the info on the Blues.   I am now down to four players in my Test Rugby selections that is in teams not announced yet, namely -

*   Waratahs  -   Foley and Folau

*   Rebels      -   Higginsbottom and O'Connor

With Beale out again - I cannot see how the Rebels can leave out their two star players and even though Barnes is fit again - I think Foley and Folau are certainties as well.

On the Foxport side I have to replace Conrad Smith - and am hessitating between Aki and Ellison.    The other replacement I am hessitating about can be either Foley or Smith to replace Mogg.   In both cases Highlanders players are involved.   I also have Pek Cowan as a prop and the Force have not announced their team as well.   I had to make two changes thus far on Foxsport - namely at prop and loosie.   The other two changes will be an enforced one at center - plus another.   The latter could either be as indicated at ouside back (preferable under the circumstances) or even at scrummie - where i have Reinach on the bench.  However, I would prefer the OB change - that is why I am eagerly awaiting the announcement of the Highlanders and Waratahs teams.

tough break with tj ioanes question mark, i might have to use two transfers regardless on the looseforwards. i had originally planned to leave lappies on the bench, but i might not be able to take the risk now and instead just transfer both lappies & and englebrechtt out to be safe.
this means i will be sticking with my props this, as opposed to trnsfring ben franks for pek cowan.
really wanted afeaki, but the rnd 17 all aussie darby is a big factor with transfer decisions, i really want to use my wildcard in rnd 18.

interesting to see that kirwan left retallick out of the 22 altogether, i wonder if hes injured, hes been their best lock easy in 2013.

hurricanes will be looking for some redemption, during a video session cockhead hammet apparently ripped into them big time, hopefully those stupid tight 5 forwards get in there and do some fucking work instead of thinking theyre flashy backs and waddling their fat arses in the backline all time.

i cant shake this feeling that this isnt the last of my transfer woes, o_O

Sasue

My poor friend - you do have problems with the replacement of your hooker as well - since Robinson is on the bench and Moore is on a bye.

The only team not announced is the Highlanders - and what are they going to produce.

My full Test Rugby squad is in and I do not need to make any changes in that one.  I did trade in Lambie for Foley,  Robinson for Strauss and  kept the rest unaltered - hope to score over 4000 points again.

On the Fossport side I have two transfers left.   The one is dedicated to replacing of Connrad Smith with either Ellison or Aki and the other one is the potential replacement of Mogg with either Ben Smith or Foley.   I would prefer the two Highlander players - since I do not like to have two players from the same franchise in the same positions.

I did not pick Slipper - in view of the fact that he is likely to be out of the scene soon and kept my props as Afeaki and Cowan.   This time I have to get over 500 points on my selections - I hope.

*update*

rebels and waratahs have benn updated, :o)

with robinson on the bench transfers are starting to get a little cosly now, but this is a good opportunity to bring in a personal fave of mine deon fourie, a silver lining in an otherwise dark cloud, :o)

am very worried about the tj ioane senario, if highlanders name their team tomorrow and tj is playing, i will leave lappies on the bench and hope that their isnt a last minute team change so fingers cross, :o)

the major plus is my opponents 4 transfers have all been froced with team selections. he currently has,,,
HK: ged robinson, (r) clemen lewis
LF: george whitelock, brad shields, liam gill, (r) lappies labuschange
FH: christain leilafano, (r) lima sopoaga
CT: james bieber, conrad smith, (r) richard kahui

robinsons benched and i dont think leiws even made the stormers touring squad.
sheilds is benched and lappies is injured.
leilafano has a bye and sopoaga is injured.
smith and kahui are both injured.

he does have folau in his team though, thats something i want too, or do i?? hmmmmmmm
im thinking of doing something crazy here and forsaking folau this week and instead banking on the stormers defence to minimise folaus impact, oh the selection head ache dramas.
why cant i jsut be like meyer and pick useless players??? oh thats right, cos i want to win, LMAO, :oP

I have tried every site possible to get the Highlanders team starting with the Highlanders website (which seems to be normally a week out of date), the Otago newspaper (which had the article quoted by oi-matey and nothing else), the EPP Herald, the Super Rugby website and obiously this site - but NOTHING - so it is unlikely that the team was announced as yet.   Have you any other suggestions - because Rugby 365 and Planet Rugby are always behind us when it comes to finding teams as selected?

No, I usually try Planet Rugby first and then Stuff for the NZ sides but neither one has the Highlanders team for this weekend.

 *update*

force has been updated, :o)

thanks rooy, i missed that post completely, must have hit my complacent blindspot as im so use to seeing force release their team aftere the deadline, lolz, :oP

regarding the highlanders, joseph mentioned during the week he will announce his team on friday, which may mean SA time as some players need to pass a fitness test.
i hate to do this, but i might just have to get rid of both lappies & englebrechtt tomorrow juat in case, i really dont want to get caught out with ioane not playing and then having no one on the bench.
this means i sacrifise either anscombe and go with godwin from the force, or folau and stick with digby.
might be time for me to gamble on the storms defence i have always rated and stick with digby. :o/
oh the selection headaches. o_O

Sasue

The announcement in SA on Friday is deadly problematic and is likely to happen.   Whereas one of the problem players could be Tennison - I will be forced to go with Aki - the other centers are all BS to say the least.  I was hoping to pick Ben Smith as OB and use him ahead of Savea for the game tomorrow.   Maybe that would be the way to go - take a chance and hope it works out.

What do you think?

I don't think you should go with Aki. ;)

What do you guys think of Lambie this weekend?? I'm thinking about swapping him for Barrett or Cooper.

 @mikey,
im not sure if it is friday SA time, i just remember he said friday, so im not sure hes taking the location into account, but chances are he is which is a big time issue, :o/

the chances of ben smith getting selected are very good IMO, hes had no injury issues, jospeh will want to pick his strongest team as they want to avoid the woodenspoon.
IMO gear wouldnt be a bad bet too, especially going up against sampson who is a little off on his defence. gear is due for a big one, but smith is a safer bet.

my outside backs are going to be folau, b smith, c piutau.

@canrugby,
that wouldnt be bad, but barret could be a hit or a miss. i get the feeling the reds are going to rip into the sharks this week though, make up for their shock draw against lowly force and cooper will be the mastermind.

CM - I would be very surprised if Smith doesn't start for the Highlanders. He's on my bench though because of Ranger / Piutau / Folau. I would also seriously consider Savea. Cheetahs are not prone to ball control / keeping it tight so I think he'll get a lot of action on defense and with the ball against a smallish backline. Canes should be fired up too - don't think you can go wrong with either player but Savea brings the X factor of a potentially big game.

Can - I have Lambie as well. Was thinking of keeping him one more week as I plan on getting Carter next week and don't want to waste a transfer. Also considering transferring him for Foley this week and keeping Foley through Week 17 (provided he continues to start every game) which would also save me another transfer later on. Foley has proven quite consistent even though he doesn't kick for poles.

Foley, eh? Never thought of him. I am leaning towards Cooper. I really want my 9th spot back. Can't believe I didn't get it with 5 tries last weekend.

one thing that sucks about the cup challenge is it hinders ur ability to build the team ith the future in mind, instead u pick players who might have an immediate effect, o_O
if it wasnt for my opponent, i doubt i would have picked folau this week, i might of instead gone for someone with rnd 17 in mind like speight.

all this talk between canrugby and oimatey of foley has made me recruit foley on testrugby, LMFAO, :oP
now i need to stop looking at that site, cos now im down to 11 ttransfers, :o(

Sasue

Both of us are mightily relieved - I because of Ben Smith and you because of Tamati Ellison and IJ Ioane,   I can tell you there were some video material shown last night on Boots and All about the Highlanders in training  and Ioane was running around like there was nothing wrong with him.  Neither did Joseph in his talk said anything about injury problems - so were were not really worried.

I was hessitating between whether to put ben Smith or Savea in m starting line-up.  Savea has been disappointing and had only one good game - and I dount whether despite your high hopes the Hurricanes will have an easy game against the Cheetahs and SSavea may also suffer as a consequence - he was ery unsteady under high balls and the thin atmosphere in Bloemfontein has defnitely an impact on such tactics.

On the other hand - I do think that Ben Smith can play for the Highlanders much the same role as Folau di last week against the Kings - so my choice remains - Ben Smith to be in my starting line-up

I was surprised about one thing as to your selections though - and that is that you left out Brier in your test rugby squad - He was my third highest point scorer last week and I have him as a definite together with Folau and Cooper.

And much as you say Folau may not be as great as he was last week - because of the tighter dfefence of the Stormers - there really is a very weak link in that team insofar as defence is concerned.   Thus far this year De Jongh has missed 25% of all attempted tackles and Aplon 3%%  - if Folay dios not use that weak link - he will be stupid and I do not think he is.   He is my captain for the week.

Hope you and oi-matey beat your opponents in the Cup competition - am holding thums for both of you.   I was not happy with my squads last week - I feel much more comfortable this week about me selections.   However, I should have waited for Tamati Ellison.   By the way "Tamatie"  in Afrikaans means Tomato - so that will be his name in future insofar as I a concerned.   All the best of luck with your Tomato and other selections. LOL
