Curse of Kahui's shoulder strikes again
'It's not very good,' admits Rennie
'NOT GOOD': The Chiefs Richard Kahui has suffered yet another shoulder injury.
Injury plagued Chiefs midfielder Richard Kahui has suffered yet another shoulder injury
Kahui, who missed last weekend's match against the Sharks with a hamstring strain suffered the previous week against the Waratahs in Sydney, hurt his shoulder in a tackling session, Chiefs coach Dave Rennie revealed today.
'It's not very good,' said Rennie when quizzed about Kahui's state of fitness after the All Black was a spectator at this morning's training session at the Chiefs' Ruakura training base.
'The issue is around his shoulder now. His hammy is OK but the medics are referring him to have another scan because he's got pain in his shoulder - the one that was operated on [last year].'
Rennie said the latest injury occurred during a tackling session on Sunday.
'It felt sore and then he threw out a hand to catch a ball and he felt a little pop in there.'
Kahui has had six operations on shoulder injuries during his career and was last year sidelined for 10 months while he went through rehabilition from that surgery that followed a shoulder dislocation suffered in the May match against the Reds in Brisbane.
He did not return until coming off the bench in the home match against the Highlanders at Waikato Stadium on March 22.
Kahui has signed a two-year deal with Japanese club Toshiba and is due to leave New Zealand after the Super Rugby season.
