....must surely have set a record for the most number of missed calls in the Stormers match. I really don't think it's biased calling....just incredibly incompetent. The only problem was, 90% went against the Stormers. It's a miracle they won that game.

I do not think that Walsh actually contributed significantly other than in dealing with the issues of carding of players.   Franks should have been red-carded for his fistiicuffs - or at least yelow-caded.   The same player should have been carded after being caught out twice bringing down mauls.   His whole game yesterday was to break every rule in the game and that was atrocious,   Walsh was far too leniet on him.

In m opinion Franks is likely to be cited and may even be out of the touring party of the Hurricanes.  He was a disgrace - a true replica of the Bulls own Dean Watson Greyling. And to think that the Franks brothers are highlyregarded in New Zealand as props - what a farce.

That game was brutally reffed. Steve Walsh needs a kick in the arse. Ben franks should have been carded for the punch thrown but wasn't. Then, he comes from the side of the ruck and the penalty is given to the Stormers? WTF? Franks was a meathead all over the field. What a joke!

Other then that Steve Walsh had no grasp of the game. Bad calls, and missed calls all over the field for both teams. I actually liked Walsh as a ref before this game. He needs to pick it up. That was brutal.

I don't regard Steve Walsh as a conventional ref that makes the clear calls, in my view the touch judge officials need to contribute more and do a better job to help the ref at times when the ref is not clearly accurately correct instead of just standing there like a fool. Franks was deliberately throwing punches last week and this week, i agree with Mike hes a disgrace.

Please oaks your unbalanced comments just have to be corrected re poor  Steve Walsh who  is an excellent ref if measured in nz terms. I mean compare him to bryce lawrence!! Al nz refs are bent its only a matter of degree.

The only solution is to ban nz refs there cutting nz win ratios by at least 50%. Bwahahahaha

walsh was bad but thats nothing news, many kiwis here and abroad. i still rate marius jonkers bulls brumbies game last year as the worst reffered game ever though.

while walsh was bad, to say 90% of the calls were against the stormers is laughable. but saffa site, saffa rules and objectivity is not allowed, so meh, o_O

and thats a saffa misconception about both frank brothers being highly rated, owen franks the crusaders prop is the only one thats rated in NZ, ben franks is usually better then he was last night though, but u would have to be more familiar with his game as a whole and not based on one 80 min session to know that.
but come on mikey, a true replica of greyling??? o_O ur usually more objective then that, many players have thrown punches in games before, comments here make it sound like a saffa hasnt thorwn a punch since the sporting sanctions were lifted.
franks attempted punch was bad, but greylings rushing in w=itha forearm across the jaw on an unprovoked McCaw is the same thing??? we both know better.

Bwahahhaha ou saSUE's/ aka StormingED head is burried deep in the sand. saSUE try and retain some cred boet!

Ou mcaaaw deserves all that comes his way. Greyling's forearm was not delivered with any impact and wee mcaaaw was none the worse for wear. I am sure that madam of his is tendering to all his bruises on his "sabbatical".

Nz refs are the pits and its becoming well know. Clean up your act kiwi bird brains is my consistent advice - before all nz refs are banned. Bwahahahahahahaha

The point is......follow the bouncing ball....he should have been carded. And Sasu I saw at least 4 Canes knock ons that were not called, there was the Franks dive on the ball on the ground, the hand on the deck on the other side of the scrum...etc. So maybe not 90%, maybe 80%. This was a fairly dispassionate call on a ref for incompetence, which ended up being one sided incompetence. Fact, even your commentators were on about his calls.

Why can't you NZ chappies ever just say...yes he was pathetic.....versus digging old supposed wrongs to NZ out of the history books.

[removed] it, we should just not supply refs anymore. Kiwis should not be refing kiwi games anyhow, when the hell did that change? Guys that fit should be filling our playing ranks anyhow. Haven't seen the game but [removed] me a guy cant seem to ref a game these days without a saffa thinking they can do a better job. Cant wait till reffing gets automated for sure.

I rarely get involved in arguments on refereeing - but I suggest you have a look at the game.  Franks was atrocious.   There was one particularly nasty incident - which the commentators callled fangerous play.  Just as the scrum was finishing he tried to hot his opponent in the face with his knee and when the scrum brok up hit his oponent with his fist.  That was shown clearly on TV and he got penalized for it - but not carded,   I think it is generally accepted that a red card was the appropriate penalty for that.

After that there were three Stormers driving mauls near the tryline.  He brought all three down - which is illegal and should have ben yellow carded.    He was three times warned about it -and penalized - but never yellow crarded.

To my mind that jkind of contempt for the rules of the game should be pnalized by the referee  and if repeated he should be carded.   Franks today was a disgrac and should be dealt with harshly by his team management.

Find myself agreeing whole heartedly with Mozart . It was a miracle indeed that the Stormers won the game. Never a truer word spoken my friend.

It's always a miracle when they win though to be honest.

Maybe so my good friend Brycy.....but the real miracle will occur when your Highlanders win their first match. To be honest?
