Craig Joubert to ref Newlands derby
April 10, 2013, 14:24:04

This bulle ref has cost us one Super 15 title and the french a world cup. h ei snot my favourite ref by any means.  Howev we are not playing the bulle so there is some hope. He can possibly be intimidated by the home crowd so give to him boys! Hahahhahahahaha

I do note how quiet chest beating guppie blowhards are this week about the gme. Not their normal approach at all. What's up oaks feeling the pressure? By now they would have talked themselves into bleiving thye woul dwin by 50 and ou maaaikie would have predicted all sorts of disasters for us!!

Ex Sport 24:

Cape Town - South African referees will take charge of four of the seven matches in Round 9 of Super Rugby this weekend.

Super Rugby appointments: Rounds 9-12

Craig Joubert will handle duties in the Stormers v Sharks clash at Newlands (Saturday at 17:05), while Jason Jaftha will be in charge of the match between the Bulls and Cheetahs at Loftus (Saturday at 19:10).

Jonathan Kaplan will have the whistle in the Force v Crusaders clash in Perth (Saturday at 13:45) while Jaco Peyper will be the 31st man in Auckland as the Blues tackle the Hurricanes (Saturday at 09:35)

South African referee Stuart Berry, who made several "questionable" decisions in the Cheetahs v Stormers match in Bloemfontein last weekend, has not been awarded a match - nor an assistant referee or TMO role - for the next four rounds at least, according to SANZAR's list of appointments released on Wednesday.

HAVE YOUR SAY: Will the appointment of Craig Joubert to referee the Stormers v Sharks clash favour either side? Send your thoughts to Sport24.

My say - Craig Joubert sucks!

Pfffffffffffhahahahaha!

It's still 72 hours before the whistle blows for the start of the match and Baboon-ou is already blubbering about the ref!

Even though the injury-ravaged Sharks will be without the likes of Bismarck du Plessis, Lwazi Mvovo, Dale Chadwick, Willem Alberts, Louis Ludick, and Tim Whitehead, they still won't need the ref's help to beat their pathetic little Bunnies . . . at Newlands!

Go Sharks!

Beeno - I was always of the opinion he is in the top 5 in the world. Have seen him have the off game, but generally agree with the way he calls a game and he seems to communicate really well with the players on the field. I was more impressed with him when he first came on the scene - seems to have lost the edge a little - but generally I would take him over any NH ref and most of the Aussie/NZ or bipolar Walsh.

You are obviously seeing something different, I respect that - would like to hear your opinion of his reffing after the game on Saturday.

Oimatey, you don't have to wait until Saturday, I can tell you right now what Baboon-ou will be saying when he finally makes an appearance some time next week after the Hapless Stompies are given yet another humiliating beasting by the Sharks . . . he'll be snivelling about all the B-grade Stompie players who couldn't play (because they had a sore tummy or a headache or something) and he'll be bleating about all the times the naughty cheating ref blew against the poor, victimized and misunderstood Stompies.

In other words, it'll be Baboon-ou's usual pathetic excuses.

Oimatey take a look at this one

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuIuXrwPCcc&feature=youtu.be

Moz provided this after the world cup final and shows how Joubert performed. I think he might be susceptible to home crowds? Certainly he shafted us big time in the Super 15 final we had at Loftus where he coached the bulle loosies and blew ours out of the game.

I will keep a beady eye on him.

Couldn't agree more Hasbeeno. Joubert had a shocking game in the World Cup final and nearly cost the ABs a well deserved victory. Joubert is after all a French name!

Interesting clip for sure. Thanks for sharing - some obvious no-calls there.

I personally have an idea that for some reason or another Joubert seems to dislike the Stormers and blow them up for infringements - which are 50-50.   Have seen is a couple of times - especially in scrumming.  The pposing props would not bind and push a hand on the ground and the Stormers are bown up, etc.

However, he is nothing compared to the ref in the Stormers Cheetahs game last week - that handed the Stormers a try with a blatantly wrong decision - could even have been dishonest - but he still got away with a real blot on his name as a referee.

Dont't blame the ref - blame the coach who does not select teams on merit.   Jantjies cost the Stormers dearly this year - and they still keep him.  Bad news that one.

In a way I am tempted to pass a few questionable remarks here. Craig is an old boy from my school and I get a lot of feedback here. Craig is an honest man. Having said that a refs job is damn nearly impossible at times. I was disappointed at Craigs refereeing in NZ in the final. I understand that he took the wrong option on the style he reffed...his decision so I picked up was to let the game flow without extreme rigidity...in other words not the whistle happy ref of Bryce Lawrence who was an absolute disgrace (how he was elected the ref of the tournament is a travesty of huge proportions...especially when he was axed from months later and has disappeared from the S15 panel...which casts huge doubt as to the integrity of 2011 world cup. I way I read it and I'm being honest...and not suggesting conspiracies as the AB's did in 1995...poisoning and all that shit.

I'd noticed that refs have different styles...just as people have different personalities...the letter of the law appeals to some but the spirit of the law appeals to others. Unfortunately refs do not have a thousand eyes.

The approach does vary...Kaplan used to be a better ref when he was younger...played advantage rule a lot...in his older age it appears that he has turned more codgity and legalistic...perhaps he is getting slower but there is no doubt in my mind that he is an ethical man.

Tapper Henning used to be a ball-ache in the beginning but progressively better and eventually earned the respect of the players and the spectators. Andre Watson too was a good ref...in fact to me he was the greatest of all and Bevan was close behind.Wayne  Barnes is a disaster as was one-eyed Paddy O'Brien.

Beanob watch out for those yarpy refs buddy. They'll stitch you up good.LOLZA

Gotta agree with sebastien about Andre Watson being the greatest cheat of all and even Red agrees with him about Kaplan being a worry.

Not sure what Red is on about re Bryce Lawrenmce though - if Red was an Australian he wouldnt be too worried about OZ beating SA at the WC - he keeps flipping between being a yarpy and an arstralian -obviouly a schizofkenfrenic..

Regardless Beanob the Sharkies gunna eat you alive but just as well your second favourite team the Cheetahs are doing well and now i see you've also adopted the Brumbies - thats one for the record books. Are ya sure you're feeling okay Beanob coz thats really getting desperate.

Thanks for the honesty Mike. Craig does not like the WP and has ruined many a game for us. Same for Peyper.  That id the way of the game though.  Other reffs might be favouring WP a bit more. Last week Berry was just plain bad. Made a lot of bad calls both ways,  the wrongful try for the Stormers being the worst call and then ending the game with a dodgy penalty. Let's hope Craig gets it right tomorrow.

PS . Beeno, that s15 final was not at Roftus but in Soweto.

The communication skills with some here are sadly lacking. What's this about "Red"...Bryce Lawrence etc???

Talking with a German guy from Mercedes in Stuttgart, Bernt, (had a sense of humour) some years ago and mentioned that I had been to lunch with some associates...What's zat he remarked...in Germany zere's no such thing as associates...you are eizzer ze friend or ze enemy ! lol

So it is with some people...they at best can only see things in opposites and black and white. They cannot understand balance...lol.

udder  your hero bryce lawrence, nz ref of the year 2012 was booted off the IRB elite panel of refs along with ou paddy. Bwahahahahahahhahahahahahaha

Andre and Kaplan are miles ahead of the bent nz refs so get real udder.

You willnote how anumber of SA posters here agree with waht I am saying re joubert. I do hope you looked at that clip of Jouberts performance at the WC which cost France a comfortable world cup win. They were clewrly the better side on the day but couldnt beat Joubert. This I say to our shame. Beeno objective as ever.

The Cheetahs have been my second favourite side for many years as folk here know so crash goes that theory of yours. Brumbies adopted due to the Jake connection.

Udder lift your game you are making a right t*t of yourself. Hahahahahaha
