Wales vs England player ratings....eina!
March 17, 2013, 20:08:31

From the Telegraph......crushing differences, but justified.

 Leigh Halfpenny
Another superb kicking display, dominant under the high ball and always a threat on the counter-attack 9/10

Alex Cuthbert
Saved a possible try with important tackle on Mike Brown, finished his first try superbly and great support line for his second. 9

Jonathan Davies
Got over gain line time and again to give Wales midfield platform and big defensive display 7

Jamie Roberts
Timely return to form after quiet championship, took the ball up with effect and hit some great lines 8

Dan Biggar
Made sure Wales played in the right areas of the pitch and kicked a dropped goal to twist the knife 7

Mike Phillips
Back to his best. Swift delivery and constantly made great yards with high-tempo display. One massive hit on Geoff Parling typified his commitment 9

Gethin Jenkins
Made his presence felt on his return as captain, winning the crucial scrummage battle with Cole and energetic in loose 8

Richard Hibbard
Gave his all to the cause, threw well in the line-out and got better of opposite number at scrum time 7

Adam Jones
Huge scrummaging performance helped win psychological war and tremendous at coalface 9

Alun Wyn Jones
Looked to be on Lions form, superb in the line-out and carried well 8

Ian Evans
The unsung engine of the Welsh pack, scrummaged well and totally outplayed Launchbury 8

Sam Warburton
Looks shoo-in for the Lions captaincy now after a stunning all-round display as part of an all-conquering back row 9

Justin Tipuric
Just edged Warburton for man-of-the-match honours. Fierce display at breakdown 9

Toby Faletau
Committed display, always took ball over the gain line and composed at base of the scrum 8

England

Alex Goode
Started solidly at the back and kicked well, but errors kept in as the game ebbed away from England and completely outshone by Halfpenny 6/10

Chris Ashton
A first-half half-break in the midfield was the high in a sub-par display. Exposed defensively 4

Manu Tuilagi
Spilled early pass from set move when a try looked on and never got another chance to impose his attacking threat 6

Brad Barritt
Won the hard yards in the midfield and defended firmly but had little creative impact 6

Mike Brown
England’s most dangerous back. Saved a probable try with tap-tackle on North 6

Owen Farrell
Tactical kicking was first class and a vital cover tackle on North summed up his defensive effort. Uncharacteristic penalty indicative of England's evening 6

Ben Youngs
A busy first half but became largely a bystander behind a beaten pack after the break. 5

Joe Marler
Found it tough going at scrum time which sapped his energy in the loose, replaced by Mako Vunipola at start of second half 5

Tom Youngs
Gave away Halfpenny’s second penalty and saw a couple of line-out throws go astray 5

Dan Cole
Struggled against his opposite number at scrum time and although made his presence felt in the loose lost his discipline at times 5

Joe Launchbury
Seemed overawed by the physicality and intensity of the contest. Looked shadow of the player from the autumn series 4

Geoff Parling
Made a huge amount of tackles but will have been frustrated at England’s lost line-outs 6

Tom Croft
Did his best to disrupt the Welsh line-out and made some decent carries, but outgunned at the breakdown 6

Chris Robshaw
Outstanding first half in meeting the physical challenge full-on, but couldn’t maintain his impact as Wales took complete control 6

Tom Wood
Another who gave everything he had, a tower of strength in defence and full of energy and commitment 6

Yep that was a Brumbies v Sharks and Saders v Bulls type of outcome.

The Welsh side always had it on paper but have failed to deliver until the day it really counted. What a display. I think a few lads will have played themselves into the Lions squad after that performance

the media reports ive read before the wales v england test have made the outcome of this match even funnier, LMAO.

shame about farrel, when hes on fire he plays with thre ability to be one of the worlds best, but consistency is somehting he and the english team lacks.

i wonder if the pommy media still considers the english the world champions??? there was an article which had the title eng world champs? after they beat the best ever All Blacks team, all this despite winning only 50% of their matches for the year, o_O

ah well, this loss can only make them stronger for the rest of the year.
Bok matches are usually my fave matches fo the year, but after the hiding the english gave us last year, im licking my lips at the thought of the EOYT rematch.

Farrell can at best be described as solid. He does the basics well and is physical - he is never going to set the world alight
