SAFFEX - Lappies Labuschagne
March 09, 2013, 09:04:18

Dave are you able to watch the game between Cheetahs and Highlanders. Justin Marshall reckons (21.55 mins) that Labuschagne has had a sensational 20 mins. Did you see him set the first try up. Tearing down the flank, breaks a tackle and puts Sarel Pretorius away.

This kid is one to watch. I would go as far as to say he has been the form flanker in SA thus far..That is based on all 4 weeks so far..He has been consistently good. You gota give credit where its due. Labuschagne also made a tckle early on in the game when they were under the pump, 5 metres out. Pick up from the ruck and Labuschagne hit the runner and drove him back 5 metres.

Brussouw about to come on and Justin Marshall says "For me they can not take Labuschagne off. He has been a giant out there!" (50:26)

73 mins. Marshall and other commentator agree that Labuschagne has been "best on show tonight!" Another comment made that "there has been 7 of him"...

Sarel Pretorius also showed Hougaard how a 9 should play so do I still not know my stuff Dave?

Boklogic as long as you are in agreement with Beeno you are on solid ground as you musyt have realised by now. You obviously read my comments re Sarel. Yes Hougaard should model himself on Sarel and become an attacking scummie as I have been saying for so long. His model is NOT Du Preez.

Labbies again did very well.

Keep going Cheethas

Beeno, I have never been a fan of Hougaard at 9..I think he was awesome as a sub on the wing..I think he has too much to learn at 9 and he is never going to be a Fourie Du Preez. Sarel Pretorius has been solid for years and I dont know why this oke has not been given a shot.

In terms of Labuschagne. I think this kid has the goods..A bit premature to speak of him as a Bok but he has impressed every game I have had the pleasure of watching him play. If he can keep this form up and produce performances like tonight consistently, I would hand him his first Bok cap on the end of year tour, if not mid year!!

Labascagne had a great game, the kid is one for the future, is definately Bok material. Not that I have ever questioned that

Pretorius is a good rugby player, but sadly has a shocking service. His service tonight was ok, better than usual, but there is nothing crisp about it. His service would be a liability at test level.

Good games from Ebersohn, Goosen, Pretorious, Nkanyane, Strauss, de Jager, v/d Walt and Labascagne. Lappies was MOM.

Great to see Brussouw back to making those turnovers and big Coenie doing the same. v?zyl as the replacement 9 was good as well

Great performance by the Cheetahs.

Saffex

I really am waiting for Mozart's comments on the nervousness of Goosen - he had a ery good game today and I wonder what that sage will say this time around.

That chap Lood De Jager seems to be very good.   Wonder where he is from?   My father had a friend by the name of Lood De Jager from the Albertinia area and he might also be from there - may even be a grandson.  Big and for a twenty year old apparently as tough as nails.   He made Thorpe look like a major flop.

Goosen had a good solid game. de Jager is a mountain of a lad at 2.05m and 125kg and only 20.

They say he should have made last years Baby Bok squad......he comes from the Puma's
