Lions change 6 for bulle match

Ex Supersport

The Lions will field new lock and halfback pairings in their Gauteng Cup clash against the Bulls on Saturday.

In the only changes to the pack, second-rowers Hendrik Roodt and Franco Mostert come in for Gavin Annandale and Hugo Kloppers.

There are also four rotations in the backline.

Scrumhalf Michael Bondesio and flyhalf Marnitz Boshoff replace the Cronje brothers, Ross and Guy respectively. Wing Deon Helberg takes over from Ruhan Nel, while fullback Andries Coetzee gets the vacant fullback spot left by Boshoff.

Lions – 15 Andries Coetzee, 14 Deon Helberg, 13 Stokkies Hanekom, 12 Alwyn Hollenbach, 11 Anthony Volmink, 10 Marnitz Boshoff, 9 Michael Bondesio, 8 Willie Britz, 7 Derick Minnie, 6 Jaco Kriel, 5 Franco Mostert, 4 Hendrik Roodt, 3 Ruan Dreyer, 2 Francois du Toit, 1 JC Janse van Rensburg (c).
Replacements: 16 Robbie Coetzee, 17 Jacques van Rooyen, 18 JJ Breet, 19 Warwick Tecklenberg, 20 Ross Cronje, 21 Lionel Cronje, 22 Ruhan Nel.

I wonder if by any chance the Lions will beat the bulle!!!!!!!!! Best be ready and wanting to play bulle. On paper the Lions have no chance of course.

Excuse my ignorance - but just one question - wha happened to Doppies la Grange?   I can recall he was injured early in the 2012 Super League - that is if I am correct - but have seen or heard nothing since then.   Any information?

By the way I like Stokkies Hanekom at center - he played extremely well at center and is a natural.  Still young - but he can have a better future than expected.

Mike I have no news re Doppies.

Provided the Lions beat the queens and get back most of their players, this season could leave them better off given the new players coming through. will keep an eye out for Stokkies

Doppies has retired I think. The Bulls are playing their B side so the Lions have a good chance of beating them

ah good ol doopies la grange, the most underrated player ever from SA. i use to consistently pick him in my spXV teams and he became a massive points cash cow for me, so much so i started a trend and some of my kiwi bros would pick him in there teams.

i use to get regular email notifications from benetton where he left the lions to go and play, so i think he might be injured, i dont thnk hes retired as i havent heard anything along those lines, but i could be wrong.

hope hes still playing though, the Boks might not have loved his exciting rugby style, but the uchiha clan definately loved his rugby game.

i would love for the lions to win this game as a morale booster, it means more to the lions then it does to the bulls anyway.
