Zac Guildford misbehaves again
January 21, 2013, 08:37:50

Canterbury Crusaders winger Zac Guildford has voluntarily stood down from the franchise following his involvement in a late-night incident in Christchurch last weekend, the New Zealand Rugby Union (NZRU) said on Sunday.

The 23-year-old with well-documented alcohol problems has admitted his involvement in the incident after a private house party which is now being investigated by his team and the NZRU.

"We and the Crusaders were very disappointed to learn of this incident. As a result, the NZRU has initiated misconduct proceedings against Zac," NZRU chief executive Steve Tew said in a statement. (I am sure the NZRU lives lives full of such disappointment!!)

"We will be meeting with Zac and his representative in the following week to discuss the matter, and next steps.

"As his employer, we want to ensure that the process respects Zac's right to a fair hearing so we do not wish to comment further at this stage," Tew added.

The 10-test All Black is hardly new to misconduct probes and was banned for four games and ordered to undergo alcohol counselling after a naked, drunken rampage in the Cook Islands in November 2011.

Guildford had previously apologised for his "excessive drinking" and narrowly escaped a playing ban at the 2011 World Cup after an alcohol-related incident prior to the tournament beginning.

Scandals are the order of the day with kiwis!

Beeno

I do not really enjoy this type of thing.  The guy has an alcohol related problem and needs treatment badly.   I know of a family who  died out because of exactly that problem and it was to my mind a major tragedy.   Please rather plead for AA to intervene here before it is too late.

ZAC GUILDFORD: Does he deserve some flak over his drinking?

Can someone explain to me how an All Black getting on the booze can make national headline news?

I did not care about Zac Guildford running in to a pub in Rarotonga naked, nor did I care about Guildford being spotted at the Ellerslie races with an alcoholic drink in his hands.

In fact, I do not care at all about Guildford and what he does in his spare time. So, why is the media sensationalising him and his drinking to be a bigger deal than it actually is?

There are way too many issues to care about. Like, for example, 81 people dead in a hostage situation in Algeria. Or if disgracing sportsmen is your thing, how about picking on a former seven-time Tour de France winner who was the mastermind behind sport's most elaborate doping conspiracy?

If you want to report on more All Blacks getting drunk, go and visit the Viaduct on a Saturday night. Plenty to see there. Other All Blacks seem to go unreported, but everything Guildford does is under heavy scrutiny.

Leave Zac alone.

brycy stop having a hissy please.

In case you missed it here is what I posted on the home page:

Sad to see a young man caught up in this trap. No doubt it was bad influences around him. However one has to say it is appearing that many all blacks need help given their behaviour recently They seem to lack class to put it candidly. Think of all the unsavoury incidents recently. Mcaaaw here is leading by example one would have to say. The rot often starts at the top.

One ab fan I know (Name begins with a B) thinks there should be no comment about ab rugby players misdemeanours but surely that is unrealistic in todays world (Nz oaks  are generally behind the times) . If you dont want bad PUBlicity dont create the opportunity for it to arise. Bwahhaahahhahahaha

Trouble is nobody cares how anybody behaves if brycy is typical of nz oaks. Seems they are going to the dogs? brycy thinks 81 dead in Algeria is far more of an issue than nz's drinking problems. Probably not brycy if you think about it.

Anyhow its a terrible scourge and I hope Zac does pull out of it. Trouble is he is in a booze up culture  it would appear. Time for abs and crusties to clean up their act. Sorry to sound like a parrot about the nz oaks cleaning up their acts but its tru bru - they need to.

Bean Brain … hmmmm??? I think I like it.

Kinda goes with the avatar me thinks!!!

A baboon of sorts by the looks of it ... mouthing off ... nonsense it seems ... and by his post count I would guess he mouths off continuously ...

Poor dear ... I guess he never felt his mother's love as a young one ... and is in constant search for attention.

Hahahaha! Only two posts and Capone has already identified the weak link on the board.

Capone, Baboon-ou didn't always have that avatar but he's finally showing a sense of self-awareness and he's beginning to realize what a moron he must sound like to everyone else . . . hence the rather appropriate avatar. Just don't ask the poor dear any questions because he tends to cower and tremble like a spineless jellyfish when you do.

Ah ou rooitwit arrives on cue. Have you been trying to do some research to the questions I asked you? last I looke you were silent on the two questions posed rooitwit. Admit it you are stumped again. ROTFL

Al is of course off to a poor start and looks a bit on the mole side to me.

As to the avatar its temporary and I will revert to type in due course.

Well … let me see … a guppie? … yeah I guess I am this season. My boys have been cast aside for the Kings and the Sharks have been a favourite of mine for many moons.

Besides … my favourite South African players all play for the Sharks (Bismarck Du Plessis, Willem Alberts and Pat Lambie)

They also have the best looking Super 15 home strip in the competition so what’s not to love about them.

Gooooooooooooooooooooo Sharkssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me guess ... you acussed Jalapeno of being someone else ... and even though he denied it ... you took him for a liar ... right? Why would he lie?

Now it's my turn ... right??

Ok!!! Bean Brain!!

Well to set your mind at ease ... I posted a bit on Planet Rugby and on Supersport awhile back .. under "Limp Spineless Jellyfish" but the name didn't really suit my personality so I changed it to what you see now ...

Kapeesh??.

Wrong Al Jalapeno came here under cover and refused until just recently to ackknowledge he was rooinek. Tried to hide it but couldnt.

I would think Capone a better forum name than Limp Spineless Jellyfish! There are some very funny nutters on Planet Rugby though and if you want a laugh its a place to visit.

I was also on Supersport some years back as Beeno - until they shut the forums down. Were you there at that time? If so you must know some of us?

I was only kidding Beeno. I would never deliberately choose a stupid name like that.

I remember a Baard and a Xupetude or something like that. I wasn't there long.

Don't really remeber a Beeno.

It's been awhile since last I posted anything.

Must say ... I enjoyed posting again. Think I'll stick around this MB for awhile.

Lots of different personalities here.  Been reading some of the threads. Some insightful posts about rugby issues. Guys like Saffex, CleverMike and Jalapeno certainly have strong opinions about the sport.

Mozart has a whole lot of issues it seems. Especially about his sexuallity. Never knew poefs enjoyed the game of rugby. He seems rather bitter.

Goes to show ... one is never too old to learn something new ...

I do recall Baard and Xupe. Not sure how you could have missed Moz on that board.

Moz is not at all bitter but likes winding ou snapster up like a clock and seeing him perform. Snapster given his gung ho approach obviously deserves it and finds any attention flattering. Hahahahahahahahhahaha

Certainly a whole range of personalties! That makes a great board and some tolerance is needed of these different personaltiy types  -which of course takes a level of maturity etc.

I note you have not revealed you supersport posting name. Why is that?

@brycy,

i see ur point, in terms of life and what really goes down, rugby and in particular zacky boy really isnt on the same page as the real important news around the world.

however in saying that, a player/person with a profile such as his cant expect to walk away from this latest incident without some form of repercussion, especially after that rarotongan incident.

hope he gets some help, his brother lost his license last tear for drink driving and he is a hawkes, but he now needs to give up the liquor permanently for any chances of his All Black career to be revived.
he released a statement after being abstinent from liquor for over a year, saying he felt confident he was capable of having a beer with out losing control, so now he just needs to give it uo for the sake of his career.
IMO he has huge potential to be an All Black great, even with the All Blacks 2nd to none classy depth in the backline, but im sure this latest incident has seen him drop down the pecking order even more now.

Its funny how no matter what the topic is about on this forum, it somehow always lands up being an argument about who's peepee is bigger between Moz, Saff, Beans and Jala (Even though some of the above have not yet entrered the "discussion". Give it up guys, mine is the biggest of them alll....or so I wish:)

Guildford allegedly assaulted someone after his alcohol-fuelled night (file pic)

By 3 News online staff

Details of the late-night incident which lead to All Black Zac Guildford standing down from the Crusaders have been revealed this morning.

They include a night of excessive alcohol consumption, gambling and assaulting someone at a house party, the New Zealand Herald reports.

The alcohol-fuelled night on January 11 was made public yesterday with Guildford now considering a lengthy leave from rugby.

Guildford reportedly spent a few hours drinking at a house before going on a “gambling and alcohol binge”.

Later in the night, Guildford returned to a house party where he was “completely out of control” and allegedly assaulted someone.

Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder told 3 News that Guildford has had numerous chances to address his drinking.

“Zac has had a lot of opportunities and he’s really at a crossroads now, I think the choices he makes in future will be really significant ones,” he said.

what isnt reported here is that there were 3 other crusaders at the party, but when zac returned, they had already left and were not there for the alleged assault.
it was also reprted that andy ellis was called by someone at the party to help bring zac under control.

the boy needs some help big time and i do hope the crusaders and the magpies give himm all the help he can, would be a shame to such a talent lost to the drink.

Perhaps he should have a few drinks before a match instead of at night time. Then if he gets out of hand Etzbeth or someone can sort him out

@sharkbok,

not very funny and a little beneath u bro, especially considering the usual manner u conduct urself.

i also think that ezebeth should sort himself out, cos against the All Blacks he was soooooooooooo piss poor horrible, meyer didnt even wait for the 60min to get his invisble ass of the field which is the norm time for tacitcal subs.

but maybe he could give zac some lessons on how to be emotinal and cry like in that article that ek posted??? :oP

also i love the wicked sidestep u did on the janties/grant thread from benno, especially ur comment about SA spXV teams have been playing well in NZ last year and the last few years, :oP
i left u in check on that thread, so move ur king or topple him over, but dont just do a runner, cos thats rude, LMAO, :oP

Sasuke, was light hearted- I dont really think he should go drinking in a rugby game. Also being from New Zealand had no bearing on the post.

-

I have commented on the janties/grant thread, will update in more detail once I have checked the stats.

The Stormers, Shark and Bulls have had some decent results over the last 3 years, better than most New Zealand teams in Pretoria or Capetown. South Africa just has one weak team in the tournament, previously the Lions now the Kings- they have pulled down the win rate in New Zealand

Just another drunken punk with other problems..

Witnessed an incident in Brisbane after a game with this same individual....shaocking.

I actually think he has more than a drinking issue..........just ask the women.
