Lambs to the slaughter...I assume Jacques Engelbrecht is the failed Bools wing/centre?

Jacques Engelbrech ??? no idea who he is...

Howeve Glad to see ronnie Cooke back in South Africa, now there was a centre with guts, smallest oke on the field with the biggest heart.

But they have about 11 players in the squad that have played super rugby at some stage in their careers.

Vergallo is a really decent scrumhalf, he could also bring some valuable international experience to the squad.

Honestly there are some decent players there.

Are they not suppose to cut the squad down to 36 players?   Wish I know who Jacques E is?

I doubt whether it is JJ Engelbrecht of the Bulls though.   I checked their website - they would have made a huge noise if it was him - but there is nothing at all.

JJ failed now there is a laugh, the only failures this season at centre were Jean and de Jongh. If only Meyer had had the balls to play JJ at 13 for the Boks. He and Taute should have been the two he looked at and certainly would have been my choices as Bok 13's not a pip squeak like de Jongh or out of position Jean.

And no that Engelbrecht is the EP no 8, why on earth would the Bulls starting 13 move to the useless Kings?

Since Engelbrecht was on the field of play for about 15 minutes coming from the bench to play for the Springboks  he did not have enough playing time to show whether he is worthy of Springbok selection.

However, after his release from the Springbok squad - he had a series of poor performances for the Bulls on CC level - and I am afraid he spoiled his copy bokk badly as a result and is unlikely to be in the squad in future.

When I think of world class centres, I think of Jacque Fourie, Conrad Smith, Stirling Mortlock, Brian O' Driscoll and the likes. No of those players are show boats or highly skilled, they all just do the basics so well and work hard at their game and thats why they are the players they are. JJ Engelbrecht is a moegoo man.. He will never be near that level and De Jongh is a better player than him and he is not at that level..Jordaan is already 5 times the player JJ is and thats being generous to JJ.

I wish him well for the Bulls but please, dont have him around the Bok squad. Get him to take Elton Jantjies with him too.

Saffex will never believe that Engelbrecht performed badly in the CC when he played for the Bulls.   I think he would have to be a miracle performer for the Bulls at 13 ro even be considered.   Problem is - I do not think he has it in him to perform miracles - so he is not really in contention for further selection.

I do not rate De Jongh as a center at all.  He performed worse than Engelbreacht in Super 15  and was a serious flop in the Scottish and English tests - especially after using vanishing cream in the game against the POMS.

I agree with you that at this stage Jordaan is 5 times better than Engelbrecht and De Jongh.I think that Jantjies will not make the grade for the Stormers and agree with that one too.

Yes as Indicated this is the innitial Squad, Final squad has not been anounced yet. They have invited a few players from border and SWD into the squad to have a look at them. I like that Dukisa guy, plays flyhalf for Border but can be used of the nech as a utility back. Has alot of raw skill, with some coaching he can develop into a real nice space runner. That however will be dependant on his dedication however.
