More Player Ratings....mostly confirming the first set.

This from a rather earnest Pom at the Telegraph:

Zane Kirchner: A couple of inspired early takes under the high ball. Given no opportunity to attack. 6

JP Pietersen: Banged into Barritt in the first half and enjoyed a very lively second period. 8

Juan de Jongh: Didn't see much of him. Just kept his head down and tried to put his body in the way of English runners. 5

Jean de Villiers: He never knows when a cause is lost. A splendid captain and leader but he was struggling at the end. 7

Francois Hougaard: Came into the game the more it broke up. Elusive when he sniffs space. 7

Pat Lambie: A strange game. Kicked his early penalties well and put balls in behind England, but fluffed an important restart. 7

Ruan Pienaar: A terrible start. Inaccurate, off the pace and lacking in confidence. Enjoyed a good middle period though. 6

Gurthro Steenkamp: Not the physical presence in defence we are accustomed to. Enjoyed his tussle with Cole at scrum-time. 6

Adriaan Strauss: Brilliant against Scotland, muted against England. That's what happens when your tight five are in trouble. 5

Jannie du Plessis: Found Corbisiero very difficult to counter. Demonstrated that the Boks are not a nation of great scrummagers. 4

Eben Etzebeth: Stole England's early lineout ball and was involved in a skirmish with Ben Youngs. Still the find of the season. 7

Juandre Kruger: Worked hard and was involved in South Africa's freakish score. Not a game to remember. 5

Francois Louw: Still made big plays in defence and attack but not nearly as frequently as he has on this tour. 6

Willem Alberts: Scored South Arica's try but probably has no idea how it happened. Like the rest of us. 6

Duane Vermeulen: Tidied up ball at the back of a scrum on the retreat in the first half. Fairly ordinary contribution elsewhere. 6

Seems most commentators thought Steenkamp was just fine....contrary to the ongoing lies about this player.

Steenkamp provided nothing a young Kitshoff could have provided and more. Our scrum struggled, thanks to he inclusion of Steenkamp and Kruger, who's rating here is spot on. But you reckon he is good enough as Bekker's back-up - bull[removed], he is not test material. Steph du Toit will have Kruger for lunch - watch this space

More realistic ratings - but for De Jongh that rates nothing better than 3/10 and Steenkamp 5/10.   Kruger I would put at 4/10 as well.  Oher than talking during line outs any other lock would have done better.    As [removed] said there is no grunt here - as was proven in both the Super Series and the CC.

Kruger was the lead player in the Boks best phase....the lineouts. He called himself when it counted and delivered every time.

There is no disputing Krugers ability in the line-outs, there is more to a test lock than line-outs. I really rated Kruger at S15 level but its clear that test rugby is a stretch too far. He is just not physical enough, there is no grunt in him and annoyingly he keeps get brushed off in the tackle.

We need to find a lock with grunt to partner Etzebeth. Bekker is too injury prone to invest in

Pienaar should get a 3 at most. Useless kicking, and was nowhere. He is the weak link in the Bok setup
