Match 23 vs Poms
November 19, 2012, 06:38:08

There are chnages that needs to happen. Mine as follows:

15) Kirchner (He is solid but thats it, still think we need a fullback with a x-factor like Dagg for the future)

14) JP (He needs to see some ball please)

13) De Jongh (Wasn't his best test but needs another chance)

12) JDV

11) Rhule (Better than Mvovo)

10) Lambie (better than Morne)

9) Hougaard (He falied at wing, but scrumhalf is his best position, Pienaar kicked too much ball away)

8) Vermeulen

7) Alberts

6) Louw

5) Kruger

4) Etzebeth

3) Jannie

2) Strauss

1) Heinke

16) Ciliers

17) Steenkamp

18) Brits

19) Flip

20) Coetzee

21) Pienaar

22) Elton

23) Taute

BBF there is no way Pienaar could be dropped for the rattled Hougaard. It was only a week ago he won the MOM against Ireland, and he was solid against Scotland. Hougaard is in deep mental crisis.....even playing on the wing, where he was previously dynamic.

I hear what you are saying, maybe thats why Hougaard is in a mental crisis because he is not getting ball and playing not is preferred position.

The reason for my changes is that we have seen probably the best match 23 out of the 2 games and there is NO way we are going to beat the Poms. So rather take the gamble, maybe Rhule can spark something and the POMS does not know him, Maybe Hougaard will sort himself out at 9, as Pienaar is a big contributor to the boring kick and chase game, or even Elton can spark something.

Maybe HM can try Elton at 10, Lambie at 12 and JDV at 13.

Pienaar is not a bad player and is having a good tour, but rather play him during wet conditions where his kicking will be an asset.

agreed the hm game plan requires kicking and Pienaar is implementing that plan. He has been one of the form backs for the boks this year.

I would rank Habana as top back of the year. Then perhaps Pienaar..

JP has been injured for much of the season so that counts against him

HM must adapt now or rather resign. There were many mini breaks (Alberts, Strauss, Louw,Vermeulen) and all that was needed is a pop pass.

Another thing is Danny Care is a quick ,quite strong scrummie, and we need a scrummie who can counter that, Hougaard maybe hell I think even Vermaak will do. Pienaar is solid but not so fast. It all comes down to the gameplan.

Interesting team - but I don't think it would materialize.   Meyer's selections are as predictable as his game plan.  I think that perfornances will just be ignored and that he will never admit he mde a serious mistake in his squad selections by leaving out some of the dummies.   I think he would not change the backline substantially - other than to replace Lambie with Morne Steyn - and will only change the bench by moving Lambie to the bench.

Meyer would never admit he made a mistake by leaving out Steenkamp - so Steekamp will remain.   He may leave out Van der Linde though.

We are going to lose that test though and the original squad selections - not based on performances - will be the cause.

Agree mike, man I'm I gatvol of this gameplan. I have been backing HM but enough is enough. It is so frustrating to see how we battle against the 10th best side in the world and against a depleted Irish team, while NZ comes and thrashes who ever they play.

Hell I think Samoa will give us a hiding.

Bokbef&k

I think the message is loud and clear - Meyer is too narrow minded  to realize that he is on the way for SA to compete with Scotland for the no 10 rating.   His main problems are his selection and game plan program - and he would not change that  for any money.     It may even get worse as time goes on.

The Boks are going tolose against the Poms opines Mike. Meyer mus tadaptor resign.

Well oaks really show some respect to the coach who has just engineered two wins in very difficult cir[removed]stances (where ou Mike was predicting losses). Now another loss is predicted.

saw the abs struggle agains Italy and only get a respectable win after 70 minutes. The Italian pack gave the abs a hard time a sdi the Scots pack. abs backline is winning matches against weak defences. Our defencei coming right - a big plus.

Man I cant wait for next year! The current crop of bleaters will at last be silenced. "It may get worse a stime goes by" - hahahaahahahahhahaha what a laugh. Oh wha ta pity morne was kicking a t20% at Dunedin. Wher ewould the belaters be now? Bwahahahahhahahaha

Look bleaters the only way England can beat us is through exhaustion and BL type refs. A Bok side with its full personnel and not exhausted would not lose against England. take it from Beeno - the one who knows!

In fact I doubt we would lose against the abs as Dunedin highlighted. Try and take all factors into account apart from the scoreboard bleaters and you will feel a lot better.

Beeno

Get real please.   We lost the test in Dunedin in your way of reckning - because Steyn was i bad goal kicking form.   The Scots made two drastic mistakes on Saturday -

  *   they threw a wild pass intercepted by Strauss; and

   *  they did not kick at goal after the huge number of penalties gifted to them in the second half by the moneky selections of Meyer.

In the Irish test - the Irish team was the better team on the day - same with the Scottish team on Saturday.   We recorded extremely lucky wins despite that.   If we cannot win convincingly against the lower ranked tams of Ireland and Scotland - then our rugby is indeed doomed.

I said we would lose afainst the Irish and it really was touch and go - I said the Scots have a reasonably better than predicted  chance  of beating us - and the luck of a px doctor saw us through.   There will be no such luck on Saturday.

Read carefully what I said aboout Meyer.   I said that if in the first series next year Meyer persists with his crazy  selection ideas and a game plan that makes us the jokes in the rugby world - we are doomed and he should be fired.   One more chance is what he should get - nothing more.

There are chnages that needs to happen. Mine as follows:

15) Kirchner (He is solid but thats it, still think we need a fullback with a x-factor like Dagg for the future)

14) JP (He needs to see some ball please) Yes, if the centres would just be prepared to pass it to him, but Juan de Jongh also got zilch from crash-ball JDV.

13) De Jongh (Wasn't his best test but needs another chance) He did not see the ball. See above. Lambie passed the ball 10 times. JDV not once.

12) JDV If only there was somebody else (anybody perhaps?)

11) Rhule (Better than Mvovo)

10) Lambie (better than Morne) Morne was only on for 7 minutes in any case.

9) Hougaard (He falied at wing, but scrumhalf is his best position, Pienaar kicked too much ball away) Pienaar kicked less than Lambie. Pienaar kicked 7 times, Lambie 10 times, Pienaar's opponent, Blair, kicked 5 times and Blair's replacement, Pyrgoss kicked once.

8) Vermeulen

7) Alberts

6) Louw

5) Kruger

4) Etzebeth

3) Jannie

2) Strauss

1) Heinke

16) Ciliers

17) Steenkamp

18) Brits

19) Flip

20) Coetzee

21) Pienaar

22) Elton

23) Taute

Justa thought as an experiment.....

15) Taute

14) JP

13) De Jongh

12) Lambie ------ experiment, tactical kicking seems to be his weakness, hwever he has a great feeling for the game.

11) Rhule

10) Jantjies -- I would actually want to see Lambie and goosen next to each other for the Experiment to work, however let's try Jantjies.

9) Pienaar.

8) Vermeulen

7) Alberts

6) Louw (C)

5) Kruger

4) Etzebeth

3) Du Plessis

2) Strauss

1) vd Merwe.

This will however realistically not happen as it means dropping the Captain :)
