Chiproll

Just a few comments on your suggestion

I am not sure about Coenie.  The injury problems he has is career-threatening.  I think that at 8 we may have Arno Botha - really top prospect - or even Wiaan Liebenberg.

I am very worried about Hougaard - he really went back this year.  Hope he recovers his form and get back to the good scrummie he used to be.  Francois Steyn also did not  play as well as expected in tests this year.  If he fails and does not come to the party - I see a gret future for De Allende.

17 could potentially be Kitshoff -  19 I am not sue about at all.

I would say that I think Meyer could remain as coach - but he should change drastilly his assistant coachinf  set-up

At this rate of attrition its premature to say who will be left standing! The Super 15 is longer these days and the second year round could get worse if steps are not taken to manage players.

I really wonder if the penny had dropped what effect poor player managment is having on the Boks and even the Super 15 franchises. If we dont improve in this area we are doomed to pay second fiddle to the abs with only occassio[removed] relief.

It is ludicrous to try and draw up the one RWC2015 team sheet after the other. Our focus should not be the RWC. Our focus should be to fix our rugby from the top right down to under 8 rugby. Our game is stuffed up and we have fallen into a RWC-to-RWC mentallity. This has been coming for some time now. Straueli made a balls-up of a RWC, and he was fired. Jake White was appointed on strength of his promise to deliver a RWC and he was appointed for four years and was kicked out. He left behind a legacy and what should have been a continuation and successful defence of a title became a joke. PDV was appointed in perfect  conditions, and I am sure that the PTB saw that as an excellent opportunity for a quota coach to take over. It was simple. The core of players was there. The structures in place. Every thing. How could he not be successful........................?

Now HM was appointed four a four year cycle as well, and he has taken it upon him to try and tackle the coaching of SA Rugby in total, as well as coaching the Bok Team. We should leave him alone and let him do the job. Rome was not built in one day, and you have to phase in the changes that needs to be done. even though HM would probably deny it, I still believe that he brought in Johan Goosen too soon and that was done due to public pressure, and we have reaped the "benefits" of that. I do not believe that he had any other option than to bring in Goosen. I also do not believe that he ever saw Jantjies as a solution at flyhalf. If that was the case, he would have brought him on for longer periods in games where we were with our backs against the wall. He only brought him on for an extended period of time when he had no other choice, i.e. the Soweto test. He has less support at the moment than what PDV has ever had at eny time during his tenure. We are too impatient.

That is my view and if anybody disagree, then so be it. I guess there are a few who are probably going to try and indicate how ignorant and dimwitted I am, but so be it.

I have not forgotten  about Serfontein - but he has been treated badly by the Bulls - he was their third choice no 12 and never really got game time on CC level this year.   Will they play him on Super 15 level next year?  I fankly don't know.   Remember the Bulls are the graveyard of centers and they may be going the same way with Serfontein.  Maybe he should try and sign with another franchise and get him ut of the hoke he is in at present.

I think he was billiant in the Junior WC - and hope he makes it through to senior level - but he must get opportunities to show his wares by frequent game time on hgher level - or could be superseeded by other players.

Okay this is really brilliant.....the ability to project three years out. The annnointing of many new Springboks, the firing of a Bok coach, the complete restoration of  a failing scrumhalf. In view of all these powers, could you please tell the following for the same time period:

1) The price of gold

2) the price of oil

3) The price of Apple stock

4) Libor

I know it's hard, but hell, given what you have just done, it should be a snap.

Why go nasty on chiproll?  He wrote something about how he sees a potential team - what is wrong with that?   We all know that performances next year is going to have a serious impact on selection and that those players showing class would probably be in the WC squad in 2015.   In the meantime we can all say which players we like - without ascerbic reponses.

There is no need tpo defend Meyer as a coach here - he is not the topic.   I think he got criticized often enough for selection problems and the teams coached by him had at times under-performed, but nobody seriously think his replacement at this stage is realistic - so why the defence?.

So Mike, you can dump on the national coach in almost every posting, but if I use a bit of light hearted irony to pull the chain of another poster.....I'm becoming ascerbic (nice word). It's a strange, strange world you live in Master Kettleblack.

Mozart

I like your posts very much - intellectually you are miles ahead of most of us and your comments - as made above - is really cutting me down to size.   No offence meant - I was just trying to protect a new member from running away - he may not have seen the irony and panicked.

Meyer is a good guy for the Board.   Without him - what would the Board be like.   I imagine  dull and not even remotely interesting.   So please give me a break and see my comments on him in that light.

Chiproll

It is Friday and may day for being nice to people.   Just one thing about my friend [removed].

He absolutely like to play players out of position to make way for his favourite players selections. Jantjies will always be in the mix and Taute will always be played at center - his latest one is Jordaan must be on the wing.

Taute himself wants to play at full back - but no he has to be at 13 -  because what about Lambie then.   Jordaan must be on the wing, whilst he should actually be at 12 or 13.   At 12 it would intefere with his selection of Serfontein - also a great favourite of mine - but misused by the Bulls.

That makes [removed]'s contributions so interesting - it gives opportunity for wonderful debate  - but he never gives an inch in such cases.   He has a wonderfull knowledge of the youngsters though - even whilst living in England.

A real wonderful issue is his view on games.   If one of his favourites play poorly - he never sees it and cut out all potential negatives completely.   Nice guy to have around  If he and Mozart could only cut out thei verbal exchanges about insulting each other that would help.

Chip, the way Mike is banging on here, one would swear Taute had never played centre or that Jordaan had never played wing.

Fact is Taute has not said he prefers 15, he only said he would prefer to be considered there for the Stormers as thats his best chance of starting for them. If Mike knew his rugby, he would know that Taute has played much of his rugby at 13 and the reason I want him there is so bloody obvious its scary. Taute at 13, becasue Lambie needs to play 15 as we have Goosen to play 10 - its that simple.

Same with Jordaan, he has played much of his rugby on the wing as he did for the Baby Boks. He is certainly no 12, if you know your rugby and could make a good 13, but I have my doubts over his physicality, hence me playing him on the wing.

Its logic and simple really and Mike is 100% wrong about me playing players out of position - its complete bull[removed]. Taute is at home at 13, Jordaan at home on the wing - FACT

With respect - you are indeed wrong here.   Taute did say he prefer to play at full back and gave reason why - not aything about your assumption that you now wrote down as fact.   I can undestand why Taute prefer to play at full back - where he played during his first year on Super Level and had all people praizing him to high heaven.   No such praise at center though.   FACT

Jordaan played at Under 20 as a wing - because in Serfontein and Small-Smith they had two very good centers and in the first match Rhule buggered up badly.   Afterwards he played there until the injury to Small-Smith when he was moved to Center.  He himself was injured early in the Semi and could not proceed.   Since then he has played on Vodacom level, on CC level and on Super Series level at 13 - with the exception of the Super 15 final - where he played at 12 and did remarkably well afainst SBW.   FACT

As per normal - not giving in an inch and discovering things without regard to reality.  What did I say about that one??????
