Meyer and yet another pathetic selection

So now we have nobody Heinke v/d Merwe as our 32nd squad member, could Meyer dig a deeper hole. What a fool

Saffex

I suspected all along that there would be problems in getting Mujati into the squad - he does not meet any of the IRB conditions at all - so I suspect the IRB told him Mujati is out.

Heinke van der Merwe is at least a better call than FATSO Steenkamp.

However, Meyer will always be Meyer - clueless about selections that could improve the team.   I think he would come up with some shockers in the team itself.

Just one question - teams must receive precise coachinh in tactics and playing patterns - and must consequently know the capacity of each player in the squad.   How does Meyer reckon he cn call up people that have not played in the SA environment for years and melt them into the team - all within 3 weeks?

I think we have even a bigger probem than foreseen orginally.

One has to wonder why on earth he did not select one of the youngsters back home initially, what is all this crap about selecting a UK based player. Whoever player 32 was going to be, he was obviously not one who would come into consideration for the match 22, so why not fly over one of Kitshoff, Malherbe or Marcel v/d Merwe all players who have done well this year and are the future.

What does it say to these youngsters - that CJ, Steenkamp, Cilliers and Heinke v/d Merwe are all ahead of them - how pathetic - Meyer gets worse as the days go by. Bring back PDV I say!!

The Swami from the Shack is at it again.....but we have seen Kitshoff, van der Merwe and Malherbe are years away.....Heinke is a sensible choice.  A far more impactful scrummager than Kitshoff has ever been, he also has NH experience and knows the opponent. Sensible....so what is the Swami's real problem. Yep you guessed it, when Heinke emerged Sapp thought he was too small.

ooh wow, shock, shock...........I think Heinke is a poor selection and good old Moz has to say the opposite. Talk about predictable crap...........not to mention the fact that you have not even seen the guy play for how long now. You are a joke Moz

I doubt you even know who Marcel v/d Merwe is?

Yes we have seen Kitshoff, Malherbe and Marcel and the majority of us liked what we saw. These youngsters have been damn good all year. You bang on about the CC final when WP had little guys like de Kock Steenkamp and Scara in their tightfive........which props would dominate against the Bok incumbents with no meat behind them?

Funny how Kitshoff and Malherbe stood firm all S15 when they had physical players on board. But you are too naive and love to base your judgements on one match - hell Taute is now a no hoper in your eyes because he missed a tackle or two against the AB's, when in fact you commented the week before on how great his defence was against Oz.

Moz I see through you bud. As Jal says, you just have to bring yourself to being anti anything I say. Its about time I started playing a game!!

Swami, when you're playing your game.....why don't you start by saying a modest sized player has a chance.....you know like Shane Williams. That would completely fool me.

The real key issue is not the scrap between Mozart and Saffex -  but the question of whether Van der Merwe has performed well enough for his club.   Pienaar and Louw frequently performed excellently for their clubs - so in reality I have no problem with their selection.

Steenkamp is a bad flop for Toulouse - yet Meyer picks him for the Springboks.

The question remainss - how did Van der Merwe perform for his club?   Did he do well enough to justify selection?   That can only be assessed by people who have seen him play regularly - so I am looking forward to their response on the issue.

Mind you - if we bear in mind the selection of Van der Linde, Cilliers and Steenkamp - even a mediocre performance record would suffice in this case.

Yep Shane Williams was special, but not sure he would make the current Welsh starting side had he been 25 today as the Welsh have two monsters on the wing with plenty of clout.

But yes there is room for a Shane Williams, Cullen or Jason Robinson type of player on the wing. We dont have any special small players.

But saying that I think Aplon is great and should have started for the Boks years back
